The restaurant had one waiter for the entire dining room; this after one valet attendant and multiple cars parked in the driveway in front of the entrance and backed up for valet. After we were seated, it took 35 minutes to get a drink. But, our waiter, Edward, was wonderful, but he just couldn’t keep up with the demand. Food was mixed: Very good happy hour pork belly and harissa shrimp; Very poor crab-cake with mushy filler and no discernible lump crab meat . Hamburgers were well cooked, but not as described, having a limp piece of lettuce rather than the arugula described on the menu. Because of the lack of wait staff, wait time between drinks was in terminable!! This was a very bad experience for a $200 hamburger meal and happy hour menu.

Had a reservation , no one else there for an hour. Food was presented lukewarm, breakfast cocktail was made incorrectly , cappuccino was cold.

Very positive dinner experience! We both ordered grouper, cooked perfectly! The noise level was very tolerable, we were able to easily converse. Our waiter was so attentive and helpful and such a gentleman. Bartender prepared a perfect Irish Coffee! We will visit again!
The Preston did an excellent job for dinner on New Year's Day! The food was great across the board, from the adults to the kids. Rabbit confit, spring pea soup, New York strip, grouper -- all were great, as were both the mocktails and cocktails. Service was warm and professional. Thank you all!
More descriptive menu including nuts on the menu would be great. Or a mention of who has food allergies from the server would be very helpful
PreFixe for Christmas Dinner. $85, They were out of one of the two selections for first course at 7 pm. Food was not very good at all. Bizarre vegetarian entree with a few mushrooms and deep fried rice paper. Desserts could have been from Sams. Wine served warm. Very disappointed.
It was decent, I would give it another try next year, but it wasn't great. Pros: 1) Cost and menu, $85 prix fixe 4 course menu on Christmas Day was a great value. Menu options: -starter choice of a scallop or an arancini (scallop was delicious and beautiful presentation) -then choice of butternut squash soup or goat cheese and beet salad (salad was tasty and of good portion -entree choices of prime rib, sea bass, chicken entree, a vegetarian entree. Prime rib was ok, potatoes were dry, asparagus flavorless. C on entree -dessert choices: snickerdoodle cake or chocolate torte, both were delicious and perfect size 2) We were seated at the bar, I'll address that below but the bartender, who was our server, was wonderful and the mocktail and seasonal cocktail she made were excellent! 3) Environment in lobby/hotel was just stunning, inside the restaurant, very underwhelming Cons: 1) We had a reservation for 4:15pm, so not a busy time, I think there was one other table seated when we were seated and I had requested a booth yet we were sat at the bar. Maybe it was a staffing issue? The bartender/server was good but not sure why our request couldn't have been honored or at least addressed as the restaurant was mostly empty when we were seated. 2) Sea bass was one of the 4 entree options and shortly after placing our order, we were notified that they were out of sea bass but had grouper instead, not remotely the same. How do you not have the one fish you advertised and offered on the menu? Seemed odd. 3) prime rib was ok, temperature served of the food was luke warm and the sauce on top was an odd addition. I love prime rib and this entree sounded delicious but the entire plate was average at best. 4) Restaurant seemed understaffed. MGMT, if you are going to be open on a holiday, then just be sure you can staff so that everyone has a great experience. Our server was swamped by mid meal for us and our service suffered. Not her fault!
The Preston offered a pre-fixed Christmas lunch menu at $85, and it was pure luxury in every crumb and forkful. I began with the scallops while my husband opted for the arancini—both beautifully presented and bursting with perfectly balanced flavor. The main event was a medium-rare prime rib, cooked to flawless perfection and accompanied by horseradish mash and asparagus, adding a gorgeous glimmer of green to the plate. A wine-kissed sauce delicately laced the prime rib, elevating every bite. We happily ended on a sweet note, sharing the snickerdoodle cake—an irresistible finale to a truly indulgent meal. 🍰
Went for brunch and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. We had a lovely booth along the wall overlooking the restaurant, which was decorated nicely for the holidays. Service was a bit slow but our server was kind and friendly.

It's hard to mess up breakfast, but the Preston managed to do just that. We sat for almost 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged by the waiter and offered drinks. When he came back we asked to order our food and then...we waited, and waited, and waited. 40 minutes later our food came out - my eggs benedict with non-runny yolks and hollandaise that was almost a gummy texture on top of the eggs. My husband had ordered a waffle that was average. It was extremely disappointing food for the high price point and it took us over an hour start to finish with very poor customer service. Highly recommend eating anywhere else, even if this seems convenient!

I had a great experience tonight at the Preston. The vibe was really nice inside.. The bartender, Madeline, was helpful, attentive, and very pleasant to deal with. She recommended me a drink with Passionfruit syrup in, which I was skeptical of (most Passionfruit drinks really overdo it), but it ended up being very lovely - well balanced, perfectly sweet and not overly tart.
I ordered the Pretzel croissants as an appetizer, which came with a very nice cream-cheese like dip (I think it was made with Boursin?). For my entree, I ordered the rabbit, which was tasty for sure (although I couldn't get over the fact that I was eating a rabbit lol). Everything was presented beautifully, and I felt that the prices were fairly reasonable too (given the area).
My only complaint is... paper straws, really? I know we have to save the planet and all, but a paper straw is barely better than no straw at all. Please investigate better eco-friendly options.
I'm sure I'll be back soon, but I'm bringing my own cocktail straw next time.

The Preston boasts a comfortable and moody atmosphere, incredible food and deserts just as beautiful as they taste and completes the experience with the bartender Madeline. As someone who travels nationally and internationally for work a friendly face, kindness, and hospitality are so appreciated and valuable. From recommendations to taking care of her customers going above and beyond for them, The Preston should be on your lists of must visits while in St. Louis, perfect for a date night getaway or a quick drink stop even if you’re a local. Madeline also creates seasonal cocktails and really showcases her talent and passion for what she does. Thank you Madeline for being part of making my St. Louis trips unforgettable.

Great ambience and attentive service. It wasn't busy so easy to get a reservation on a Saturday night before hitting the cinema in the plaza. However, the menu was a bit “maximalist” for my taste. I ordered the chicken dish which was chicken stuffed with sausage, duck pate, fingerling potatoes, asparagus, pesto and blackberry jam. It was decent but the chicken was a bit dry, and I felt it had a few too many elements once I tried it. My husband ordered the rabbit confit and had a similar experience. We did order arancini as a starter which was very good. The cocktails and wine list were excellent, can't complain there! Overall it was a perfectly fine experience, I've just had better food in St. Louis for the same price or less.
