Valley Park MO location was very accommodating to a party of almost 30 outside. We were in the covered patio area, perfect for a small youth sports group. Waitresses were organized, food was fast and delicious. Highly recommend.
Another great experience at the Shack. Alyssa was great server.
We had great skillets and had wonderful service. Definitely recommended for breakfast/lunch/brunch!
Fun place for breakfast!
First experience at the Shack. Took my son in law and my Granddaughter. Seated immediately. Fantastic waiter, Austin. He took our orders and food appeared promptly. My Big A#! Burrito was a little cool inside, so I asked if they could pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. I was informed they would have to make it over. I objected to that, and said reheating would be fine, but they insisted. My new one came out hot and tasty. I thanked them immensely, and couldn't eat all of it. So I embarrassingly asked for a to go box. Should have done that instead of remaking it. My mistake. So when it came pay-up time, the bill didn't seem right. Upon closer look, the manager had comped me my meal. Unbelievable. I highly recommend The Shack to anyone, but advise that you go hungry. Proportions are huge! Food is delicious, and service was fantastic. Manager came out and sat down with us and explained the situation. My new go to for breakfast.
I’ve been going to the shack and for many years it’s been my favorite. But I was there the other day ( Thursday February 13th) and the bacon came out in an oval dish swimming in grease, the eggs on my plate also . My husbands chorizo & eggs were so awful ( the meat was grey and eggs watery) they used to have the best. We will not be back
We usually always enjoy going here. Usually even if their busy their really good about being attentive however this time they were out of a lot of stuff my salad was missing the cheese, bacon, eggs and avocado. It was literally mostly just meat and lettuce. We let our waiter know and he was supposed to bring me something to accommodate for them being out he never came back not even to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. We even had to find him to get our checks. It was weird for them and probably an off day. Who knows.
Kid-friendliness: Not a whole lot for the little ones.

I ordered the breakfast tacos and got food poisoning :/. Tasted fine though, if that makes a difference 😄.
The waitress was nice enough, but they were so busy she barely came around - I ran out of water and it was never refilled.
The atmosphere was a bit.. much. The music was loud, the other customers were loud, there were a bunch of hard surfaces (nowhere for sounds to die out), and there was a ~20 min wait to be seated.
Kind of a cute place, but yeah, the food poisoning didn't help.

We brought ten people in this morning and the staff was very accommodating! The food was great, service was lovely, the ambiance was enjoyable, and man, those bloody Marys are the stuff of dreams. Highly recommend, such a staple of STL brunch spots.

What an amazing place. I came here with my girlfriend and got the “why the French hate us“. It’s basically scrambled eggs. Sausage on a croissant with hashbrowns. It was wonderful! Very cool interior andfriendly staff. I will be back!

I went to the Shack for breakfast this morning and our server was Michaela. She was terrific, and her story is inspirational. It was a pleasure to meet Michaela and learn about her grit and triumph against incredible odds. Thanks for taking care of us.
This is a disappointing location. Like all Shack locations, the food and drinks are delicious. However, the inconsistent service makes it very difficult to enjoy a good brunch here.
For example, my husband and I just finished brunch. It was a busy Sunday morning. We signed up for the waitlist online at approximately 9:30 am, got to this location at approximately 10 am, and were told we’d be sat in about 30 minutes, around 10:30 am. We enjoyed our complimentary coffee (which we got the last of, we didn’t see it be refilled after we notified the host), and looked at the menu online to pass the time.
Around 50 minutes later we still hadn’t been texted or heard our name called, so I went up to the host to ask for an update. The host advised she sent me a text previously that our table was ready, but since we didn’t come up to the host stand, she moved past our name. I had my phone in my hand for the entire wait looking at the menu online (it’s a big and creative menu) and I never received a single text. I also didn’t hear the host even attempt to call our name once we didn’t respond to our text message. For what it’s worth, I didn’t hear the host call anyone’s name while we were waiting, so that makes me feel like it’s a policy that they’ll only text you instead of making an effort to confirm if the party is still there. FWIW, I think that’s lazy and a bad policy. After I told the host that I never received a text or heard her call my name, she immediately sat us which I appreciate. The host was also nice during this encounter—just disorganized.
Once we were sat, our table was sticky with syrup from a prior guest. We were greeted quickly and placed our entire order with our server (Deb in the bar area). After I used hand sanitizer and the napkins available in our silverware roll to clean the syrup, I asked our server to bring more napkins, which we eventually got. My water glass (already at the table when we were sat) was dirty, and I had to wait until our food arrived before our server brought me a straw for the water.
Although we ordered cocktails immediately after being greeted, we didn’t get our cocktails until after our food arrived (despite being sat at the bar area high tops). The cocktails were delicious! If we received them in a timely manner, I would’ve loved to have more than one.
Our food arrived and was mostly correct: my husband’s omelette was missing sour cream and my eggs were overcooked and my quinoa bowl was missing avocado. Despite those issues, the food was delicious. We’ve never had anything we dislike at The Shack.
Overall, our meal was about $70 before tip. The food and drinks were delicious, but incomplete and took a very long time to receive. After this last visit, we’ve decided to give this location a break and drive out of the way to go to the Frontenac location instead.

The last few times we've been to the breakfast spot, the big turn off has been the staff. It would be something if their food was special but it's average. Staff misquotes the wait times. Their system "accidentally" checked us out which led to our wait being over double the time they quoted onsite. I'd have to say this place has went from being a weekend option to let's just make breakfast at home instead. Typically I'd review the food I had and give my perspective but honestly since I'm still a bit in a mood at the moment, I'm not giving this anymore of my time since they clearly did they same for me today when the issue was brought to their attention.
