Went for the food with high expectations. It turns out they exceeded themselves. The BBQ was absolutely phenomenal. Those ribs were exceptional for sure. And the surprise was live music. Thank you all.
Burnt ends!!!!
Went there with my brothers. The the of us were greeted and seated very quickly, even though the place was full. Great service and menu selection. Waitress provided a couple of menu options that were amazing. Highly recommend the cornbread.
Cozy atmosphere. Live music to
set the mood. Spanish guitar was amazing….
To top it all off the BBQ was Outstanding!!! Visiting from Texas. A Shaved Duck would kill it in Texas. Great job Saint Louis. I see why the BBQ here is considered some of the best in the Midwest.
Saw this place was on the food network a long time ago. Thought I would check it out. Wasn't really that impressed. From my understanding it has a new Owner. Kinda expensive you have to pay for sides. I guess whatever floats your boat. But I wasn't that impressed visiting St. Louis. They love to sauce everything. Bartenders also kinda suck here. So just be prepared to wait for a refill. Bartenders kinda have attitudes.
Very good food in a small, quaint atmosphere. A restaurant in the middle of a residential neighborhood. BBQ is quite good.
We had a great experience here! The cornbread was unique and delicious, the tri-tip, meatloaf and shrimp& grits were all wonderful. Bonus-we had fabulous service. A definite win.
We walked in and were immediately seated. The wait staff was very attentive and extremely good at their jobs! There was a live music and the atmosphere was really wonderful as it's located right in the middle of a neighborhood and they use the neighborhood to its benefit for decorating. The food had my husband in a meat coma cuz it was so good! I was right there with him! It was so tender and well smoked and well-seasoned! There's a reason Guy Fieri recommended this place highly! Five stars and more from us!
I was in the area and was so pleased to find bbq near my air bnb - locally praised and nationally acclaimed at that! I’d had Pappys and Sugar Fire and was anxious to try Shaved Duck. I ordered a burnt end sandwich with mac n cheese online. At pick up they were busy and it took me a while to be greeted but that’s understandable. The place looked great and I admired the atmosphere. My first impression of the food was the smell of vinegar and the box it was served in was greasy and had bbq sauce all over the outside. That could mean either it’s gonna be BOMB orrrr someone was careless. When I opened the box, immediately I sighed “Ugh” upon seeing non-burnt burnt ends (this is typical these days yet still disappointing) and I was smacked in the face with the smell of the PICKLES! Good lord! I actually love pickles but this was so overpowering that it took away from the flavor profile rather than adding to it. The biggest fail was the meat. The brisket was tough and fatty. I understand the fat content of brisket, but that is supposed to aid in the flavoring and tenderizing process, which didn’t happen. This was tough and chewy. When I saw the mac and cheese I got a little excited. I could see a little brown color through the container and was ready for some burnt cheese like you find on any good home made baked mac n cheese. Nope. The dish was dry and had some weird crumble on top that was the consistency of soggy bread crumbs (I was so confused by this bc it was served in a plastic container and sprinkled on top. So they couldn’t have been adding bread crumbs for texture bc they weren’t toasted or baked! Limp cracker crumbs is what I got). I tried so hard to find something edible and I couldn’t get more than a couple bites. So disappointing. I want my $20 back 😢
The best and my favorite restaurant in STL! So happy they were able to recover after their pipes burst. Now I have my husband hooked and we come here any chance we get. Love love love the Shaved Duck! They do it right every time 🔥♥️

From the second we walked in, we felt welcome and the environment was so perfect and friendly! Shout out to Paul and the rest of the team for making our time there very pleasant and memorable! The food was legitimately the best ever and this location is incredibly kid friendly while also allowing for a perfect date night vibe. We look forward to coming back!
Definitely a different experience. Loved the food and customer service was excellent.

Good atmosphere and service was friendly. Most importantly, the food was excellent.
I had the Duroc pork ribs with the duck confit appetizer. Duck confit was absolutely delicious with the cherry juniper sauce. Everytime I've had duck it was greasy. This was perfectly, fall off the bone done. Pork ribs were equally amazing and fell straight off the bone. First time I didn't feel I needed to use extra bbq sauce on my ribs as the flavor was perfect.
That being said, I did use the 7 cherry chilli bbq sauce and mango habanero on the ribs. Both were great, I wish the restaurant bottled those as I would stock up on the 7 cherry bbq sauce.
First time there and I plan on coming back many times in the near future.

They food was amazing. Had the smoked turkey and the jalapeño cream corn. The turkey was so juicy. The servers were very friendly. We did have to wait about 10 minute but was worth it. Will definitely go back!
