Trattoria Marcella is our go to Italian Restaurant for dinner. They have a truly Italian ambience, take reservations (which is HUGE) and they have an outstanding selection of high quality entrees, appetizers and salads. My wife and I were there on March 30th and Sarah took excellent care of us. We both decided to get the salad special with avocado dressing which was excellent (need to make that a permanent addition to your menu!), and I got the Lasagna and my wife got the Chicken Soto. The food came out in a timely manner and was nice and hot and delicious! We have also ordered the Frito Misto and Stuffed Artichoke for appetizers (both excellent) and I look forward to ordering the toasted ravioli next time. Other entrees I have had include the straw and hay, ossobuco and, chicken and spinach cannelloni. All are excellent and I look forward to exploring the menu further!

We started our long weekend in STL with an amazing dinner here. We started with the Caesar salad and the Mista salad, very fresh and simply dressed. I had the Shrimp Rigatoni and it was truly one of the best pasta dishes I have had. The ambiance is lively and fun. Service was incredible we enjoyed our night at our own pace and didn't feel rushed.

My friend took me to Trattoria Marcella for my birthday. I am a pasta lover and hadn't had any in a while, so I was looking forward to trying their Rigatoni. Let me say first that the picture doesn't do this dish justice. Let me say secondly that being a pasta lover, I try it at a lot of different spots, including on the Hill. However, the flavor of the pasta sauces are consistently bland. This was NOT the case here. The flavor of the sauce was spot on. It was rich, creamy, and well seasoned without one note or overwhelming. The acidity from the sundried tomatoes helped to add balance to the richness of the sauce. There were large shrimp that were tucked away beneath that amazing pasta and sauce, and they were cooked to perfection. And I can't forget the roasted cauliflower, which added unique texture and depth to the dish. All around, it was an amazing entree! The owner stopped by our table and asked if everything was good. He'd noticed the flowers and cake my friend bought me and wished me a happy birthday. Later, our Server brought out a complimentary, generous helping of tiramisu, which I forgot to take a picture of since I'd ravenously inhaled it shortly after they'd brought it out! Come check out this cozy spot that serves up amazing food, a warm ambience and a family feel you might miss elsewhere.

Another great meal at trattoria. I had lamb chops, there was also ravioli , tortellini and pizza Marguerite . Always go with the Amarone, that wine goes with everything. Service was great, ate early due to a basketball game and they were as kind as always. And always go with the calamari, always

First time here and I was blown away. The service, the ambiance, the food! I loved all of it. I went with the spinach ziti which was a little sweet and a little spicy with generous portions of sausage, made from scratch noodles and chunks of tomatoes. My husband got the lasagna and my mom ordered the straw and hay. The portions were huge and we all got two meals out of it. The service was friendly and prompt. Definitely will be returning in the future and I'd like to check out the happy hour.

Was disappointed in my latest visit this past weekend. Our group of 4 was seated at our appointed reservation time. We were greeted by a friendly server and ordered drinks, which he brought back swiftly - great! But things went downhill from there. We ordered the calamari appetizer, always a hit, and it was whipped out less than 5 min later! Woah fast - but ok. With some calamari still left on the plate, the bus boy kept asking to clear it. So after feeling the pressure we dividied up the remaining and let him clear. We had to ask for bread service, and it came just as our food did, which was about 20min after we sat down. Again, the bus boy insistently asked to clear our plates... finally after 45min we decided to settle up and head elsewhere for drinks as we were sped through our dinner. Food was still delish as always, 5 stars there, but the rushed pace of the meal really was a let down. Maybe intentionally pace out your meal if you want to relax when you visit, as we felt a bit rushed.

I went to Trattoria Marcella to do something nice for myself. It has been a rough few weeks and I needed an evening out. My waitress rushed through telling me the specials of the evening. I had no clue what she'd said. I told her I'd need a few minutes to look at the menu and that seemed to leave her flustered. Was 15 minutes before I saw anyone again. A bus boy brought me bread and hummus (which was delicious), and I asked him if I could have a napkin. He then realized I had no silverware or water. Was another 10 minutes before my waitress came back to take my order. My food arrived quickly, but my waitress never came back to see if everything was ok. My shrimp scampi with risotto cake was wonderful. I asked the bus boy to bring me a menu so I could order an appetizer as well. I decided I'd try one of their calamari. If it was as good as my entree, I'd come back again with my daughter. We've been struggling to find a restaurant that makes good calamari since moving to St Louis., 45 minutes passed and no waitress. Thankfully I brought a book with me to read. The tables around me were well waited on and their servers took their time explaining the menu, making suggestions, and coming back frequently to make sure they didn't need anything. I had plenty of time to observe what was happening elsewhere in the restaurant. The lone dinner wasn't a priority. A gentleman did come and ask me if everything was ok. However, he stood at the table behind me and I had to turn around to answer him. So, I didn't feel he was truly invested in my honest answer. I spent way longer in the restaurant then I intended and only because I couldn't get service. I was there well over 2 hours. Which is fine if I was still eating, or wanting to be out that long. Not fine if I'm sitting there waiting for service. If dinning alone - don't choose this restaurant. The food is good but not worth being ignored. I won't be back. Food is only a portion of the reason people dine out. If I just wanted good food, I'd have ordered takeout.

Trattoria Marcella is the perfect spot for a romantic, date night! We couldn't have picked a better place to have our anniversary dinner. It was easy to make reservations online and the service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside, but it still has a cozy, neighborhood feel. Of course, we had to try their toasted ravioli and it was just as crunchy, hot, and yummy as we hoped for. For my entree, I ordered the Cheese Tortellini which coated in a rich, brown butter sauce and my boyfriend ordered the Lasagna Al Forno which was unlike any other lasagna I've tried before! The sauce was so flavorful and seasoned uniquely. If you're looking for delicious Italian food in St. Louis, this is the place! I can't wait to go back and try more amazing dishes.
