Hidden gym for anyone looking for a unique dining experience, great conversation and to slow down and talk and enjoy a great space, food and wine. The trick here is to call and make sure they are open or to make a reservation. The menu is limited to only a few things, but they are all great. The owner will come to your table, explain the food the wine and how the experience works. If you are looking for a place to talk there is nothing better in town. Very quit and relaxed. Will take you a few hours to eat and that is fine as you will not want to leave.
Me and my wife went there on our journey to try all the food in Warrensburg, MO. We had the Caesar Salad, Lobster Bisque, and two different sandwiches. It was a great lunch. Loved the atmosphere and the owner gave great service.

It is such a cute restaurant with great food. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and tried some of the best ceasar salad and lobster bisque we have ever had. Its a great place for lunch with their soup, salad, sandwiches, and wine!

Owner/Chef “Robert” is super friendly and welcoming! I ate a turkey sandwich and Red Pepper Gouda soup for lunch and it was PHENOMENAL! I’m obsessed and can’t wait to eat there again! I would give him ten stars if I could! This hole in the wall restaurant is a gem!

My husband and I stopped in one afternoon a month or so ago for a late lunch; we had admired La Sous Terre previously as we explored along Pine Street. Robert was quite the interactive host, sharing not only his delicious food (soup and sandwiches) with us, but also a delightful conversation. I’m sure the dinner experience would be quite memorable, and we look forward to doing so soon.
Nice, somewhat hidden, lounge with good service, food, and conversation

I saw a sign for lobster bisque and Gouda soup pointing down steps from the sidewalk. In the middle of Missouri in a small town, you wouldn’t expect lobster bisque. I peaked through the glass door trying to figure out if the bistro was open, and Robert opened the door and invited me in. He served me a glass of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, a bowl of lobster bisque, and a toasted croissant. I had to promise not wolf it down quickly. While sitting under the windows, we discussed the local scene, wine, and music. One of my favorite experiences ever. The bistro/restaurant is not formal, but Robert serves up magic.
Enjoyed the Dickens' Christmas with live

It's a very intimate setting, low light, good food, friendly owner and waitress. Every time I've gone in the owner, Robert, has made me feel like we're old friends with good conversation and a smile on his face. Love grabbing a bite here. Portions are perfect for a single serve of soup and sandwich and the desserts are always delicious. It's a hidden gem in this town. I enjoy my food so much that I never get a chance to take a picture.
Vegetarian options: Just have to call ahead of time and Robert will most likely make something work for your dietary restrictions.

I love this place so much, and always have. The owner is usually there in the kitchen and delivering the food to our table, and he's so friendly. You've got to try the roasted red pepper Gouda soup. It is SO amazing. I usually just get that and a salad, but he also has great sandwiches and desserts.

My visit to La Sous Terre was nothing short of amazing! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The atmosphere was captivating, and the service was superb. I can't recommend enough getting both soup and a sandwich. I opted for the Pastrami Cheese Onion with mustard on focaccia, and it was hands down one of the best Pastrami sandwiches I've ever tasted! ?? Paired with the Gouda and red bell pepper soup, this experience was absolutely top-notch. Don't miss out on this culinary gem! ???
