Darn tasty. Good fried chicken, okra. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Buttery biscuits. Note that the hamburger is heavily seasoned. I think it's great, but my child was less than impressed.
Will note the overt Christianity, as a non-Christian, is off-putting. People can believe whatever they want, but shoving it in others' faces is uncalled for.

Not the most beautiful restaurant you’ve ever visited, but the food will stimulate table conversations about the kinds of food you ate— or your parents are—long ago. Go early on Sundays. The “after church” crowd loves fried chicken and when a couple at another table learned Cowan’s had run out, they were very disappointed!

I very rarely order a steak when I go to a restaurant. I am very picky about the taste of my steak. Hardly ever does the steak meet my expectations. I took a chance on this day and went ahead and order the steak. To my surprise the steak was excellent along with everything else I odered. Customer Service was also exceptional.

The Cowan burger was excellent. Served on rye bread, which isn’t my favorite but it really accented the taste of the hamburger. It’s substantial and it will fill you up. The chips were really good too. I just added some salt and they were perfect. Great place to stop by with lots of pies and good service.

This is as American as you can get. Came in for the famous mile high pie, and it was delicious and unique. The whipped cream was super light and fluffy- it’s like eating air…. The waiter was attentive and the food was delicious too.
