This is my first review, so you know it's no joke! Asked for a brat, they put it on a hamburger bun, then began to argue they dont put brats on hotdog buns. They started cutting it up and put it on a hamburger bun! Only have mac and cheese on certain days. If you have young kids, they dont have hotdogs. I left with 5 fountain drinks that cost me 18$ with no food. And the worst service I've ever had!
Wow, I had a bad first delivery experience(soggy, cold) and didn’t try it again from that point on. Total mistake. Delicate as can be pulled pork sandwich, fries were flavored awesomely(still a little soggy cause we took it to go and the humidity in the bag hit them but still so yummy) and my fiancés brisket was amazingly good too. Service was literally one of the quickest experiences I have ever had, in and out with my order in less than ten minutes, and friendly as can be. Will definitely be back.
The brisket was mostly fat, green beans were cold and so was the corn. It was awful
Cook was rude. Very blunt. Server not too great either. Pulled pork at 3 pm was already leather dry. 2nd time at this location. I am done.
They were out of brisket and ribs at 7 in the evening. Left and went to the Creek
Got the 4 rib meal. One of the ribs didn't have much meat.
Had ribs. They were tender. But#1 mistake they left membrane on the back of them. They seem to be little over cooked. Myron Mixon would of sent them home packing. I was looking forward to them. But I would not order them again
We love Sugarfire, and this is our favorite location. We get the pulled pork platter with plenty of sauces to choose from.

This man served our whole family cold food. The brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and sausages were all cold. Pulled pork was VERY dry. It’s almost becoming not worth going out to get bad food and service with these prices…why would anyone ever tip? I know not every place does BBQ the same but serving dried out and cold meat is a messed up practice.

I don't normally write reviews, let alone long ones. I mainly share my experience due to the service and not the food.
I'll start with saying, the location is amazing and the vibe of downtown Washington is on a very small scale of being in a large historical city. We are from the area and really appreciate locally owned restaurants, even though this particular one isn't local to Washington.
First off, we were not greeted with "welcome to Sugar fire etc." We were looked at like we were idiots because we were confused on the flow of the restaurant and where to order. We were just told " to start over there" Ok cool I'll go "over there" The restaurant is pretty confusing when you first walk in. The entrance is off the dining patio and you have to walk across the restaurant behind a wall to grab sodas and beer or whatever it is you want to drink. Kinda weird but ok. There is a large menu written above the service area, in chalk, is very cluttered and can be confusing. My son who is 12 was trying to order brisket. The guy, who looked like the pit master or manager, asked him what size portion he wanted. My son, who I don't think heard him, told him that his order would be on the same bill as mine. Again he's 12 and being polite. The sever said very abrasively, " I understand that sir, would you like 6 or 8 oz?" Like he knows what that means or has ever ordered that before. I then almost told him never mind and grabbed my family and left. But I decided to just over look it and move on. It was just very off putting and he could have presented himself better. Was not a very good representation of this restaurant. I almost felt like our $100+ bill was an inconvenience to him. But I really wanted some ribs so I let it go. I'm by no means a "Karen" but don't treat a child any different because he was confused.
We got to the check out counter and the girl must have been new. I get it, we all have been there. We were by no means in a rush and I even still Tipped. Even tough I have a rule that if I have to stand up to order and get my own drinks and condiments, I don't tip. Call it what it is. In closing, the food was good but not by any means award winning. The corn was bland and the beans were just ok. As far as the ribs, they were pretty good. some over cooked spots but overall still good. My wife said she enjoyed her sandwich and the kids ate their food so it had to have been ok.
Im not saying I won't give it another chance but it won't be my first pick. I just want to add, it was not busy and there were another group of maybe 4 in the dining room at the time. I can see if it was slammed.
If the management reads this, please work on doing better to make your customers feel welcome and invited. I spent a pretty good amount of money in this restaurant and there were several other nearby that I know I would have enjoyed. Im not saying people need a welcoming party, but at least act like you want them there. After all, we are (the customers) what keep your doors open and you employed.

I have not been here in a long time. The ribs were so good. The pulled pork needed barbecue sauce. I forgot to ask for barbecue sauce. The Cole slaw was a little sour. I like my coleslaw sweet. The jalapeño cornbread was okay. If I go again, I think I will just get the ribs.

Nikki at Sugarfire was so awesome to coordinate with for our wedding food! She helped early on with the order, called me to double check the numbers and go over everything, accommodated many dietary restrictions, and the team did an awesome job serving food during our reception. Highly recommend!
I visited the store in olivette for takeout. My order was wrong first off but they fixed. Got home 30mins away from the restaurant and took my food out and there was nothing on my burger. Called the restaurant talk to the manager and all he could say was I could pick some lettuce and tomatoes up another day. There’s nothing else he could do. He’s so rude his name is Eli. I believe I was racially profiled but I’m not going to take it there. But for him to be head of any team is insane. I will never patronize this company again and I will share my experience with all my friends and colleagues
