Great food for reasonable prices.
I didn’t think, “Wow, that is good.”
Food wasn’t terrible but it lacked flavor.
Wait staff was fairly attentive, but they’re understaffed. For the price, it should have been amazing.
The best food!! The crab cakes are always tasty and the mushroom soup is to die for.
Seated immediately outside best seats in the restaurant- food was absolutely delicious- grilled trout, grilled salmon & grilled artichoke chicken. Beautifully presentation of the food & excellent service today!!
Had one of the worst food experience of my life here. Food had no flavor or cooked to temp I wanted. Spineless staff didn't try to fix things and just collected forced 20% gratuity that they didn't deserve. I will never come back here and will tell all my friends about this place.
Had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon and it was just too perfect! The outdoor porch, the view! The amazing service and excellent food. I'm wishing I had the recipe for the pasta salad! It was like a light, refreshing macaroni salad.
The salmon sandwich was very satisfying.
Something for everyone's tastes.
Try it for yourself.
My experience at the Avalon Cafe was so bland and mediocre that I cannot image how they have managed to maintain such high reviews. After spending $400 it is unbelievable that each person had such a poor quality meal. The buger and monkfish was raw, the pasta tasted of water and oil with a slight appearance that tomato had graced the plate. They did take the burger back with the promise of correcting its inadequacy, but after returning the exact same burger on a new plate it was found that only half of the burger had been fixed. risotto was the texture of sticky rice with a taste so awful that it could not be consumed by any person at the table. There kitchen can be commended on their ability to cook sausage that had absolutely zero flavor.
Overall I can say that the over priced (30 dollar a plate) heinous food was not worth the money, and the staff did not even have the courtesy to reduce the price on the raw food items that could not be consumed.
Ate lunch here today with friends. Everything we ordered was delicious. So many options to choose from! I had Cajun shrimp & wild rice. Portions were perfect and food was beautifully displayed. Friends had Artichoke chicken and chicken sandwich. Took home a piece of Boston crème pie cheesecake for dessert. It was yummy!

Food was good, not great, my salad had a long string in it. 😞
We sat in a smaller all brick room with a group of women that were so loud it made the experience very uncomfortable. 3 of the 6 bills came out wrong, when all we wanted to do was leave because of the noise.

Not a bad place. Decent menu. I had the elk as an entree, mushrooms for an appetizer, and chocolate towers for desert, so I am basing my review on that.
The food was under-seasoned. I had to add salt to almost everything.
The mushroom dish needed more than just two small puff pastries.
For the price, I would have expected more elk than what I received. It came sliced, which is not bad, but it appeared to be less than 6 oz.
The desert was more like a Klondike with lots of whipped cream. The cheesecake seemed to be a lot better.
Ok, the good.
Great environment. It is a very romantic environment.
The staff is awesome. They seemed to work very hard and knew a lot about the menu.
Sounds weird, but the water was really good. Better than other places in town.
The plate has a lot of extras with the entree.
It is a really nice place, but for the price, the food should have been a lot better. Fine dining prices and mediocre flavor and portions. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Need to return to explore the menu. Visually pleasing. The quality of food was amazing. The entrées felt like a low salt diet. There were a lot of flavors but not salt, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Loved the drink, ambienc, and services.

I’ve had the lamb several times and it’s always been melt in my mouth and so tasty. This time, while the flavor was good the chops were a little tough. My husband’s grouper was a bit overcooked. Everything else was great, just a one off. We enjoy the Avalon.
