My girlfriend and I had our very first visit on 6/27/25. The staff was phenomenal, well accepting of our service dog with zero hesitation. Griffin (I think it was his name) is one of the best servers I’ve had in month if not the last couple years. He deserves a raise. He was very patient with us, great attitude and manors and we noticed him being just as good to other tables near us. Food was amazing. The theme of the place was quite different and interesting. Whether it’s in 5 months or 5 years we intend to visit again in hopes of same great service in food.
The place needs some cleaning, freshening up, and advertising ( looks abandoned from the street view), the staff some training, and it could be a real gem 😏
Truly the BEST restaurant in west county!! My wife and I have been eating here for almost 10 years. We love the carnivore pizza and toasted lasagna!
Great food! That toasted lasagna is so good and enough for another day!
The real treat is the upstairs speakeasy with all the delicious cocktails!!!
The only reason I’m giving two stars is the service was very good. The food was really not! Big Chief used to have a diverse menu with a steak house feel. It’s now just sit down fast food and quite frankly I have had better burgers at a drive thru. Everything was clearly prepackaged. Just disappointing.
Food was OK had better at other restaurants
We really wanted to like this place based on the reviews but the food was gross. Smoked meatloaf was dry and dense. Very little gravy. Green beans were eh. My husband didn’t like his pizza and he loves almost all pizza. The chocolate pie was so disgusting, I didn’t eat it. I’m guessing the desserts are previously frozen, not homemade. The guy who served us was sweet but we didn’t even bother looking for the speak easy. We were just ready to go.
Best Reuben I've had in years. Highly recommend.
A wonderful piece of Americana, tied to historic route 66. Very broad menu of items. Something for everyone. Very courteous and friendly staff. Ask if you can see the upstairs speakeasy!
Kid-friendliness: Sure to be a hit with the kids. Off the beaten path route 66 gem of a landmark with a ton of atmosphere and personality. It's living history.
Wheelchair accessibility: Location is accessible. Upstairs speakeasy is not though. Stairs only.

So I'm not from the city, but apparently this gem has been here for YEARS!! Talk about a diamond in the rough. There are so many wonderful things about this place.
We were greeted as soon as we walked in the back entrance. We were seated on the outdoor patio which had heaters. They had booths and tables which is always nice to have that choice. Our waitress Emily was honestly one of the best waitresses I've ever had at a restaurant.
She had great recommendations from the menu. We tried their nachos for an app and they were great, we forgot to take a picture, we both had the burger for our meal, he had fries, and I tried the mac and cheese. And for dessert we shared a piece of gooey butter cake cheesecake.
Once we were finished with our amazing meal we were informed they have, wait for it..............a speakeasy!!! And talk about totally cool! I've never been in a speakeasy and I loved it. The drinks were a little high priced, but strong, so I guess worth the price? I'm not a big drinker. But it was like we stepped back into prohibition time. From the furniture, to the decor, to the bartender. Everything was perfect and fit together very well.
So if you are near Wildwood MO do yourself a favor and go try Big Chief Roadside. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs except up to the speakeasy.

Everything was great, but one employee was chippy, and made us feel unwelcome when we arrived, and as we were getting ready to leave. Our server was awesome though!

We took a drive out to Wildwood to try Big Chief Roadhouse for lunch on a nice Sunday afternoon. Plenty of parking was available. We both commented on how the place looks like it's been there awhile, having no idea at that time about the history of the place. Now I know, this location has quite the history, dating back to 1929.
We found our seats at the bar and was greeted by Joe. After getting our drinks, Joe explained the specials for the day, and one of them was their smoked meatloaf. Wow, if you love smoked bbq and meatloaf (like I do), this really hits the spot. Total comfort food with the mashed potatoes and green beans. I really enjoyed this meal. Cyndi ordered their chicken pot pie and said it was very good. We really enjoyed our time at Big Chief Roadhouse and certainly plan on other visit.
