Walked in and walked out. No reason why the place has to feel like a bar shoved into a hotel lobby - plenty of hotels get this right. Bar tender was mossing and unclear what the table service model is. I’m sure it’s fine for guests but they shouldn’t market like they’re public venue.
The hotel is great, with a great location. HOWEVER, the restaurant stole the show. I travel way more than I'd like to admit and I have tried hundreds of hotel restaurants. Drew, the chef, absolutely killed it. I got the seafood platter (blackened catfish, shrimp, and a fried crab cake), the southwest egg rolls, broccoli and mac and cheese. Don't judge me. I was hungry. Only finished half of it because the portion sizes are GENEROUS. Drew made everything to perfection....
Arriving at Doubletree after a day of touring and driving, we were looking for a dinner site that was close and appetizing. Gulf Breeze is the restaurant in the hotel. At first we were not sure that it was open, but eventually realized that it was. Our party enjoyed catfish, chicken tenders and shrimp. Our sides were salads, steamed broccoli and French fries. Everyone was very pleased with our suggestions. Our server, though busy, kept checking on our needs without being intrusive....
