This is a quaint establishment with a long history. I was greeted by very kind staff, and the food was piping hot. I got red beans and rice, Mac and cheese, green beans, cornbread, sweet tea and peach cobbler for less than $20. I am used to southern MS soul food, so I enjoyed a bit of a new experience. The flavor profile was heartier, and the sausage was less spicy with more herbs. I really loved it, and I will be back!
I just can’t get over how good everything was and the ice tea tasted amazing even though it was raining all day it was worth the drive from T-Town my ladies and I will most definitely visit again …
Good portions, friendly staff, nice owner, and great food, meat loaf, peas, turnip greens, cornbread, mashed potatoes, sweet tea and lemonade, all done well!
Great little diamond in the rough! Great food!!! Locally owned/operated. Must try!!! Very Inexpensive and portions are good sized! 💪💯

My very first time and it was delicious
I went with Helen’s for the catering of my uncle’s 70th birthday celebration and the food was AMAZING. Everyone kept talking about how they loved the herb roasted chicken especially. I hope whatever they’re doing in the kitchen that they keep it up, especially with the chicken. And the salad and fruit tray were just beautiful. I even have an aunt who’s now considering Helen’s for her event. Mr. Kabir was such a pleasure to work with and made sure I had everything I needed. That took so much stress off of me since I was planning everything from out-of-town. The next time I’m in Columbus, I’m going to make it a point to stop by and support.
I Love this place, home cooking at its best.
They had the best breakfast I’ve had in the city so far. Pancakes were super buttery & fluffy, the potatoes were well seasoned, the omelette was top tier, we genuinely had no complaints.

I happen to be in Columbus MS today and was looking for some good southern soul food and found Ms Helen’s Kitchen and oh what a pleasure was meeting her the food was amazing,it was such a blessing meeting and talking with her, definitely will be going back, thank you Ms Helen!
Oh my gosh! What an experience. We checked Google reviews today in pursuit of some good soul food. We settled on Helen's Kitchen and, in doing so, hit a home run.The first thing we discovered when we got there was that the meals were take out only. Her business is undergoing renovations, and the dining area is closed.James met us outside to take our order. That's when we discovered that we would not be dining in today. We asked if we could go in and meet Helen, and he said, "Of course."We had the most delightful conversation with this very young 84 year old mother of six, and one of eleven children. She has been in the restaurant business for nearly 40 years. Her son served us both up a hot plate of food to go.We really didn't want to leave. Everyone there made us feel so much at home, and we certainly didn't want our conversation with Helen to end.Good food. Good company. You couldn't ask for more.
Despite remodeling work on going, they have maintained their quality and delicious flavors. I'm traveling thur and haven't had the chance to eat from Helen's before, but you don't have taste like this without experience. I'm wishing them good luck in the years to come, because I do intend to be here again!! Thank you for the food, service, and price!!
1st time eating, great taste and fast very friendly service!
