We live less than 10 minutes from Lil Ray’s and have ordered takeout from them many times without any problems until now. This time, our shrimp po’boys were soggy, greasy, and unappetizing by the time we got home (photo attached).
When we called, the person we spoke with said we could bring the food back so they could look at it, but once we agreed, her tone totally changed. She now seemed to be suggesting the food was only soggy and greasy because we lived “so far away” and that they couldn’t do anything about it.
We’ve ordered this meal dozens of times as takeout and never had this issue.
The whole interaction came across as defensive and dismissive, which was very disappointing after being loyal customers for years.

Stopped here on the way to get lunch so that I could eat with my son at school. Imagine how disappointed I was to sit down to eat only to have one piece of fish 6 jumbo shrimp a hand full of fries and burnt hushpuppies.

In our opinion, the Longbeach location has much better food. The fried shrimp were a little over done and tough.
Disappointed! Po boy bread, while sturdy, shouldn’t be so hard as to be almost inedible. I was told I have to ask for it to not be that way, which is a load of BS. I remember Lil’ Rays when they only had the Waveland location and knew Ray Kidd, so I remember the quality they built on. The poboy game is too competitive around here to put out this subpar product. Skip the gumbo and French fries too.
