I was very confused as my GPS lead me to Leatha’s. It was not at all where I remembered it being. Sure enough they moved to a new location several years ago. Luckily the food is still just as a good as I remember. Ribs fall off the bone and the sauce is perfection. Potato salad was amazing as well. Glad to see them still here, and still serving up great BBQ.
I went to school at USM in the late nineties during the summers. One of our professors made sure that we went to Leatha's each year. It was absolutely unforgettable. The tiny restaurant, the plywood floors, Leatha's daughters, I guess, were the servers who never wrote a thing down but remembered everything.
It was hands down the very best barbecue ever had. I still remember those meals, and I don't even really care for barbecue.

Leatha's Barbeque is a beloved restaurant, known for its great BBQ. Despite occasional inconsistencies, such as unexpected closures, the food is always good. The menu features local businesses and offers exciting new options. While some argue it's not the best in Hattiesburg, Leatha's remains a must-try for BBQ enthusiasts. Recently, the restaurant moved to a new location several years ago, but the quality of the food remains just as excellent as before. Ribs fall off the bone, and the sauce is perfect, with potato salad also receiving praise. Visitors from out of town have described their barbecue sandwiches as absolutely incredible, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The restaurant has a nostalgic charm, with a cozy atmosphere and live singing that many remember fondly. Overall, Leatha's continues to serve up great BBQ and remains a special place for many.
