Never had a refried bean taco until I ate there. No meat just beans on it. I won't go back.

This place used to have pretty good food. Not anymore. The dip is nothing close to what it used to be. The quesdillas only had one piece of chicken on one of the slices and they used cheddar chesse instead of white cheese.

DELICIOUS! Ordered a small plate today - no enchilada - sub extra taco, and it was so good!! If you’ve never eaten at The Mexican Kitchen in Hattiesburg, MS, you should! Been a Hattiesburg go-to of our family since the 80’s! Only only only order a small, medium, or large plate. Period. And just know, you’ll either love it or hate it - no in between. We happen to love it!!

I've literally been eating here my entire life. Any time I eat at another Mexican restaurant, it fails to compare to the Mexican Kitchen. it's always a treat to eat here!

I would give a full review if they were actually open for business. It was a Saturday Night @7:15pm. They were closed, yet no indication before arriving that they would be closed. I won't return.

This place is gross and dirty and filthy and dusty and the carpet is old and stained. The food looks and smells disgusting. No one in the kitchen wears gloves, and I've personally witness Linda pull a hair off a plate and send it out. They recycle the pitchers of water from the previous day and wash the dishes with laundry detergent. Not the mention I'm sure they've never cleaned that I've machine. DO NOT EAT HERE.

People seem to either love it or hate it. I love, love, love it!! Been eating here for years, since it was on Hardy Street. It's unlike every other Mexican restaurant on every corner of town. The chips are taco shells and the salsa is not chunky, but smooth sauce that has some heat, which I crave! Definitely worth trying if you've never been.

After talking with Frank Garcia (Long-time onwer) of The Mexican Kitchen today (06/30/2023), I discovered that this restaurant has been part of the Hub City for 50 years as of this year. Therefore, seeing that this family-owned restaurant has withstood the test of time to celebrate a semicentennial anniversary, I think that it's a "must stop" for all tourists and visitors!!!
