went there early, we were the only customers. one server there and he brought our drinks in one hand and his other hand in his pocket. held them out for us to take. then he didn't come back to take order. I went looking for him, he was on his phone. So I don't know if the food is good ,we left!
This place used to be a local favorite for my family and me, but unfortunately that’s no longer the case. I believe in giving businesses a second chance, which is why we returned after a previous bad experience. During our first visit months ago, the service was extremely poor. Our glasses sat empty with no refills, and when I attempted to place my order, the waiter cut me off to attend to another table. From that point on, the service was essentially nonexistent. We were ignored for so long that I eventually had to get up and ask for our bill myself. Despite that experience, we gave this restaurant another chance a few days ago. Sadly, it was even worse. My father and I ordered the same dish and both became severely ill for 36 hours afterward. On top of that, the service was still lacking no refills, no check ins, and no attention from our server. Considering the consistently poor service, the risk to health, and the high prices, this restaurant is simply not worth the money anymore. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
Pulled pork needs to be shredded not big chunks. Wait staff needs to be more attentive.
We absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. Wait staff was great though Mother’s Day was quite busy. Would definitely go back again.
The hostess was so kind and made sure we were well taken care of. Our waitress was AMAZING. She was kind and helpful. Compliments to the chef because the food was DELICIOUS, and had lots of leftovers. 100 percent recommend this gem if you are in the area or just passing through like we were.
The service and atmosphere were good. My husband and I both had the pulled pork platter. The baked beans and potato salad were good. However, the pulled pork was cold, dry, and had very little flavor. I loaded it with bbq sauce to try to make it softer to eat. However, it was still tough to eat. We have eaten here before and found it to be pretty good. We were VERY disappointed today though.

The place needs some cleaning up. There were towels on the counter that were not a good look

We checked out this place yesterday for lunch hoping for some decent BBQ. We walked in and was the 1st ones there, awesome so far. Wife ended up ordering the shredded pork platter and I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket and burnt ends. Was told they ran out of burnt ends the night before, the server went to check if they had any. That's a slight red flag, meaning you are essentially paying for leftovers VS. Fresh BBQ. Was pretty stoked when the server stated burnt ends were available. Food showed up shortly after, the sides looked great, wife ordered fried okra, mac and cheese, I ordered mac and cheese and potato salad. The meat on the other hand didn't look too appealing. My wifes pork was dry and very bland, the brisket though tender, looked like it was warmed up on a flat top or pan, the burnt ends didn't resemble burnt ends at all, they came out looking like literal burnt shredded beef. I questioned the server and was told that was there burnt ends. They were so burnt and dry youd be better off eating ground cinnamon. I let the server know and she stated that she would see if they could discount the meal or provide another meat choice. Being we drove almost to hours, I was hoping for the discount. Alas the server came back and stated the manager would not do a discount but I can have another meat, since the pork was bland, figured the dogs would like it. Ultimately if you want quality BBQ, go elsewhere. If you want amazing potato salad and disappointing BBQ come here.

I was hoping for better here. Don’t get me wrong. The food was good. It just turned out to be average tho. I hope we just caught them on an off day during holidays. I will return but will consider other places first. I was looking for somewhere that would make me want to skip everywhere else and it didn’t happen this time.
I had the brisket sandwich and it didn’t have the tender smoky flavor I was expecting. My buddy had the ribs and I could tell by the way he was eating them, they weren’t the fall off the bone type that I like.

Ordered lean brisket and pulled chicken with sides give it a solid 5.6 out of 10
Pulled chicken Good smoke flavor throughout wasn’t dry
missing a good taste of seasoning throughout but the smoke makes up for that
Brisket was ok
bark was great nice smoke flavor on it
Smoke flavor past bark was not there
moist near bark but dry elsewhere
Tasted as if brisket was warmed up in microwave then served which would explain the dryness outside the bark
Mac and cheese needed seasoning taste like a generic Mac and cheese and was served room temp
Greens were served fresh and don’t need seasoning but lacked butter to kinda balance it out
It’s hard to run a bbq restaurant here in Hattiesburg but i believe for the price of 26 bucks it should have came out a lot better then it did might just be a off day for the group as it was slow overall i would give it one more shot.
Better than roses bbq for sure 👍🏻
