Elegant atmosphere, nice wine selection, excellent flavor! At times can be somewhat loud but usually is a comfortable noice level.

Mardi Gra pasta was delicious! Surf and turf had a lot of grits but good!

Overpriced NOT fresh seafood that they try to pander off as fresh coastal “fancy” dinners. They try to mask the frozen foods with over seasoning them and using lots of oil.

This place is FAR from Fine Dining! The experience was same as going to a chain restaurant. Wife and I went for Valentine's dinner. The presentation was same as a home prepared dish, poor presentation and no description of the dish. The bisque was luke warm, we both got the fish and it was over cooked and laid atop of potatoe mash and finally the desert we had the cream brulee, cold and little soupy. The wine pairings were bad. They didn't know how to pair wine. They were stingy with the wine and my drink, my wife had to ask for different wine from the pairing they recommended because it was bad wine and my drink was half from a normal pour. Wife's wine glass stayed empty more than wet and the glass had lipstick on the rim, had to get another. The price for the dinner was way too much for what was served. Our server was not at all pleasant. They have Michelin Star prices for 2 star dish's. I have gotten more on a dish at a 5 star for less price including wine. Can not recommend this place.

The best place to eat in Hattiesburg. I have traveled world and filet is equal anywhere. The fish also eaten by my party also stated same. My only concern is that enough people read this evaluation to keep them busy but not to busy that I cannot get a reservation or they increase prices.

Several of us had dinner at the Purple Parrot following our friend's memorial service. Yelp! did not lead us astray. This restaurant has a cool vibe. It has character and an attractive decor. The hostess told us the restaurant has been around for over 30 years. They've done a good job keeping the interior looking fresh and welcoming. It's definitely a good place for a date night or a business dinner. We got three different appetizers: scallops, lobster dumplings and oysters. All were excellent! Fresh and tasty. The scallops are a little small, but very flavorful. The oysters were among the best I have ever had (large and very fresh). Warm spinach salad for most of us and gumbo yaya for a couple. Delicious! I had the grilled redfish for my entree. It was on a bed of mashed potatoes with crab on top. Light and delicious as well. Some of our other friends ate in the wine room - a very nice private room if you have a large party. The wine was also very good. The Purple Parrot was a huge win for this group!

Stopped by for lunch on our way to New Orleans. I had forgotten how good the food and service was. Many options for lunch including great salads.

I thought the food quality would have been better. Not bad by any means but my expectations were higher. The steak was not a classic well grilled edges one but just a basic steak. Bar inside though was nice.

We really enjoyed our dinner experience last night. Andrew was a wonderful waiter and was knowledgeable about the food and menu. I can’t wait to go back.

Wish I could give a 3.5. We stopped here wanting a great meal after getting off our cruise in the morning and stopping in Hattiesburg overnight. We were dressed very casually but the staff never made us feel like were were underdressed. The start of the service was very good and the manager even came over with suggestions and substitutions when they didn’t have the first wine we wanted. We had the duck spring rolls as appetizer which we definitely enjoyed. Then a VIP group came in and the chef came out and greeted them etc talking about all he had planned for them. This was of course fine but then our main dishes took FOREVER to come (even after the server said he was checking on them). It seemed the kitchen forgot our food on the warming area. My steak (which I prefer Pittsburgh style) was to have truffle butter on it. It did, but it had sat so long on the warmer the butter had melted and actually started to brown on the plate. So my steak came at almost to medium and my husbands (requested med rare) was actually very medium. Our daughters duck was good but the Swiss chard was extremely salty. I really do feel the distraction of the VIP contributed to the second half of our meal not being up to standard. No one checked on our steaks being cooked to the correct temp especially knowing mine is a very specific and minimal cooking time. Next time through though we will give them another try.
