Sully's Hattiesburg

I am normally not the type to write reviews, but I want to make an exception this time. A few weeks ago, I dined at Sully’s Tavern in Hattiesburg because everyone said they had the best steaks. Madison P was my server and I ordered a 16oz prime ribeye cooked rare. The steak I received after almost 45 minutes was very thick and juicy, but was very much overcooked. Madison came to the table a couple minutes after the food was dropped off and asked if the steak were cooked properly and tasted good. I said yes because I didn’t not want to trouble her. The steak still tasted good even though it was overcooked. It was a good cut of meat and was very well seasoned. The reason I am writing this review is because even though the food didn’t meet my standards, the experience and service can not be beat. My server, Madison, never let my glass be empty, answered all of my questions clearly, and made me laugh. I came in again and requested Madison. I told her about our last experience and she assured me that my steak would be cooked perfectly. It came out perfect. From my couple of experiences at Sully’s Tavern, I will say Sully’s is one of my favorite restaurants, even if the food isn’t perfect all the time. I love the live music and atmosphere they provide. I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to stop and visit Sully’s Tavern. Best experience I’ve had in any restaurant ever.

This place has the look of a hometown favorite. We walked in and we immediately noticed that it's a little darker than in most other restaurants. The service was more than adequate.

My wife and I both got burgers. We noticed immediately that our hamburgers were two thinner patties but good meat, not the typical thicker single patty. It was still properly prepared and tasty. My fries came late but acknowledged by our server. When they came out they were definitely fresh and hot. The onion rings that my wife got were the frozen kind, not homemade, but not bad for a place like this.

If we are in the area again, we will come back.

Food was tasty, very reasonably priced, good size portions. Maddie was our server and did a great job. Will return!

Update April 2026: we have come here now many more times and yesterday we had my early Mother’s Day dinner here. Sara R. was one big reason this turned out super good again! Very friendly, professional, funny and always on top of everything. We especially appreciated the little break between the salads and the main dish. Doesn’t happy very often at all. We didn’t feel rushed.

Nov 2023: We happened to be in that strip Mall and decided to have a late lunch. Very nice place with great food and beer! Allie was a great server although I think it would be beneficial if she could slow down talking. 😂🤣😂 we will be moving up here and still have to get used to the Mississippi accent.

We celebrated our anniversary yesterday, all the staff was amazing, kind and the food was delicious! We always have a great experience when we visit but yesterday they made it very memorable! Thank you so much!

Update: I wanted to edit my review in response to their reply. I understand that sometimes there is a supply issue, or due to many different reasons, an establishment may need to make changes. The only bearing that may have had on my review is just slight aggravation but I wanted to give an honest review so I included that. Maybe black those items out on the menu.
The rating I give was based on the food alone and they were right, I should have brought it to their attention or asked for a manager, but I was taught that you should never send your food back. I’ve known many people that work in this field and the one thing they’ve always said “ NEVER send food back to the kitchen and then eat it”. I should have given them the opportunity to make it right but again… I shouldn’t have had to.
My server could tell something was obviously wrong because nobody ate their food except my nephew that ordered a burger. I also didn’t complain to her because I didn’t want to seem rude. She done a great job. Again, I assume the ratings are based on the steaks. They did look good!
I simply try to give an honest review to the best of my ability, it’s simply my opinion. Others may love it. According to Sully’s they have plenty of business so take it for what it is. Try it for yourself!

I’m confused, I don’t know how they received a 4.6 star review. Maybe it’s the steaks. We had the shrimp po-boy ( which was ok) because they no longer had the ribeye. They didn’t have the Mahi either, there were several things they didn’t have. I had the Philly because they didn’t have what I wanted ( it came out cold with cold fries) my daughter had the shrimp and garlic pasta ( she couldn’t eat it) tasted as if it was loaded with sugar. Even my granddaughter couldn’t eat the Mac-n-cheese… 130.00 and all the food was taken home for the dogs.
Our waitress was Madison and she was great! If not for her, I would have asked for a manager.

Had the prime ribeye, $43 is way over priced. Especially when you can't even get salad and baked potato. If you get salad it's only 1 side....Ridiculous.
Hubby had the shrimp fettuccine it had 5 shrimp on it , plenty of pasta though. Service was slow and server must have forgotten to put our order in. She could tell we were waiting for our food and kept avoiding our table instead of just coming and saying , hey , it's gonna be a few more minutes. We won't stop again.

We wanted some good Southern home food. We were served exactly what we asked for. It was good.
They were very busy. Service was good. Satisfied customers. 😀
