The atmosphere and service was good. They were super busy but the wait wasn't too long. My veggie omelette first came out under cooked with eggs mix leaking into the plate. The server asked if I wanted it cooked hard...I said no just done...but when I got the recooked omelette it was HARD! The catfish and grits was amazing. The praline bacon was too sweet for my taste, had raw brown sugar coated.

The Midtowner serves a kicking breakfast. My favorite is the oatmeal, no kidding. It is the perfect balance of hearty oats, buttery goodness, brown sugar, and fresh berries. The Modtowner redefines good food in a classic diner atmosphere. It is a Hattiesburg classic!

Great place with good food. Was not really impressed by the food. Stopped here for late breakfast/brunch. Unfortunately, they don't serve eggs after 11am. Only scrambled eggs.. overall good experience. Country fried steak was ok Service was good. The atmosphere was good, too.

Service was friendly. Restaurant was clean and had a nice diner vibe. Parking was easy. Food was delicious and good value for the price. I had eggs, grits, ham and biscuit. The grits were great. The ham was perfect, not overly salty like breakfast ham often is. Biscuit was delicious. I tasted my friends pancakes and they were excellent.

We recently moved to the area and wanted to check this place out. The exterior has a modern, contemporary look—but to our surprise, the interior is all warm shades of brown with a charming vintage feel! The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the overall experience was great. We’ll definitely be back!
