A Mississippi staple. No room for dinning inside North State street location. Restaurant may not be pleasing to the eye. But the friendly staff make up for all of that. If you are not into pork. This is not the restaurant for you. The smokes always good. Side desserts a great addition. Kitchen open so you can view your meal being prepared.

Been eating here since the nineties... The worst they have ever been made. I never like state street if I get them I usually go to farish street... Meat is soooo salty and under cooked... And not to my specifications... My uncle makes them how they use to taste... With better service..

The wait was long, but the sandwiches were delicious. I got hot and they were seasoned right. Geno worked that day.

Great local eats. Friend recommended this, and I was so happy. We had the ears and smokes. They were sliders and three filled me up. The tamales were good too!

I keep trying this location periodically but am disappointed each time. Either the food is sloppily prepared, order is wrong or in today's case sat for 30 + minutes after ordering, once everyone that was there when I came was served I waited. After the 3rd person that came after me was served I got up and left. I won't mention the loud yelling and story telling the guy behind the counter was doing or the number of times the N word flew out of his mouth. If you won't put competent in place to run your business its not worth me spending my money.

We saw it on a cooking show and thought we would give it a try. They were famous for "SMOKES" and "EARS" which are slider size sandwiches made from homemade smoked sausage without the casing and pig ears. They are really very different. They were too spicy for our taste and the ears are a BIG NO due to texture. The service was great & the people were friendly! The seating area wasn't the best but the place STAYED VERY busy!!!

I was at the Farish street location. I tried the Tamales and they are very good. Needed something for my hand to go, so I got a smoked sausage sandwich and whatever that was it was one of the best tasting things I tasted. Very impressed!

Food was good as always the burgers seemed smaller and the prices higher. Be prepared for a tasty treat at a not so affordable price.

Front seating was dirty. Food was horrible. We had ears and smokes and the food prep could not have been worse if a couple of 4 year olds had made the sandwiches. Bread was soggy and other than the hot sauce there was no flavor at all. We had heard great things about the Big Apple but it was HORRIBLE.
Although this place is not aesthetically pleasing, the food supersedes all of that. We all know the local mom and pop restaurants are more delicious than the popular chain restaurants. I ate a mild smoke Sandwhich I ate 5 and wanted more. I even wanted to go back the next day. 10/10 recommend.
