“Out of town, again on business, looking for a good place to eat (and have a drink). Well, I landed on The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen. I usually sit at the bar because I'm by myself. Anyway, the bartender (Angela) is knowledgeable on bourbons (what I like). She didn't treat me like I asked stupid questions. Believe me, I asked a lot. I tried her old fashioned and Manhattan (a perfect Manhattan is what I like). Both were very good. I usually make my own at home and love them so I compare to those. They have a great bourbon/rye selection and other spirits - very extensive. I had the Fisherman's style red dish which is blacked. It comes with cauliflower. Dinner was excellent. I ordered the recommended pecan pie cobbler. I'm not a fan of cobbler. This crust is a cornbread crust. Oh my gosh. Trust me on this. (I know you don't know me from Adam to actually trust me, lol) It was amazing. If you like pecan pie and are a connoisseur of it, you will love this. I really have zero negatives about this place. Not the food or service or anything else. Everything was excellent. Visit this place if in the Jackson area. Obviously bar tenders change and so do servers but this place is worth a visit. Do it!!”

“Passing through Jackson enroute to the great solar eclipse of 2024 we found this little place near downtown Jackson and stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. Seems to be popular with the locals and filled up soon after we arrived around 7p. My wife had the chicken shwarma and it was delicious. Served with pita bread, rice and a wonderful hummus. I opted for the kebab combination platter including chicken, lamb and beef and the same sides as the shwarma. Unfortunately this dish was not the same quality as the shwarma- meat was room temp and rather tough, and I had a hard time distinguishing which was lamb or beef. Notable is that they don't serve alcohol but they kindly referred me to the liquor and convenience stores next door who sell wine and beer and they happily allowed me to imbibe with no corkage fee. Would be 5 stars if not for the disappointment on the conbo plate. But definitely worth checking out for their other entrees.”

“Sometimes you get good advice from a hotel bartender on local places to eat around town and sometimes you get sent to a whole shit show. This time we found a winner!! We stayed at The Westin and were down at the bar grabbing drinks before we went out for dinner. He immediately, without hesitation, not only said this was the only place we should go, he also told us exactly what server we should ask for. He said that Casey was the man who we needed to see. (This was a year ago, so I hope he is still there). Arrived to a packed house but were able to slide in pretty quickly. The place is stupid cute. It's in an old diner and all of the old feel still in it. Fine dining in an old diner. Love it. I'm not into asking for servers I have never met so we just rolled the dice. Server arrives and it's none other than our man Casey. He was pretty rad I must say. He could have owned the place with all of the pride that beamed from him when he talked about the dishes. All of the food was fantastic. Menu may have changed in a year so I won't drool on about it too much. I will say this.... We had a Dry Aged Bone In Ribeye that was the special and holy shit. My wife still says it's the best steak she has ever had. Desserts were awesome! Fried pies with ice cream and a Cinnamon Roll Tiramisu. Oh my goodness! I cannot wait to come back here! '24 - 27/100”

“This is 100% my favorite coffee spot in Mississippi. I’m not a big coffee drinker, so I usually stick with an iced chai tea latte, and they make THE BEST one I’ve ever had. I work remotely, so occasionally I work from The Bean, and I usually order 2-3 chai lattes when I’m working there. (I’m truly obsessed with them) Plus their brunch/breakfast options are so good! The staff is always so friendly, too! Whenever someone asks for a local coffee spot, I always recommend them!”

The only complaint I have is that I called, and the lady had me on hold for about 10-15 minutes. I didn't want to hand up because I knew the like would be busy. Sure enough, when I hung up, I tried to call back automatic answering service picked up?So I ended up having to place an order in person. Other than that, everything else was great ?? Wife ordered Shrimp & Grits and I ordered Fish & Grits. I’m not a picky eater, therefore I ate my cold grits and fish. Wife returned her food. She wanted to order Chicken & Waffle, only to find out they only serve Red Velvet Waffle. Please be advised this is a Social Club rather than a Restaurant. “Awfulhouse consistently has barely edible sub par greasy garbage food at bargain prices. What the food lacks in quality is made up for in great customer service and fantastic coffee. The menu is beyond extremely easy to navigate.I really wanted to eat at the nearby IHOP but refused to wait in line forever so l came here instead.Awfulhouse is never my first choice, it's just a repetitive bad choice I keep making out of necessity. The food quality is dismal at best, but I always feel welcomed, I never leave hungry and I never feel cheated.The working restroom is always a relief while traveling on the highway.Highly recommend on the outstanding level of customer service alone.l would recommend this establishment.”

We got to our table at 7:00 (which was our reservation time) and didn't leave till after 10:00. We watched other tables come and go, so not sure why it was taking our service so long. Then to cap it off, we ordered a couple desserts and after waiting for them about 20-25 minutes, the waiter tells us, "I'm sorry, we won't be able to serve your desserts tonight", then just walks away, no explanation or anything. It was a really odd experience, never complained or had any issues other than waiting so long, but we were enjoying our company, so we let it go, but by the time we left, it was like, what happened and why did things take so long and what was with the desserts?”

“1st & foremost let me just start with the customer service that I received, hands down I wish I could give 10 stars. Everyone was so welcoming, even the cooks in the back were speaking. I honestly felt like I was at home with my people the energy was so good. Everyone was smiling and enjoying their job. Now on to the Big Kuntry love a good chew stamp of approval. That FRIED BROCCOLI gave me life! When I say it was cooked perfectly with a seasoned golden brown crust. Man say, my stomach was happy. For a girl who loves her some fried okra I must admit whatever seasoning they put on theirs definitely won me over. Now my wings I was a little nervous ordering the honey gold because everybody can't do it like Memphis but man oh man, THEY DID! I was impressed. And then there was the Flip sauce flavored wings that I let Flip talk me into trying and he didn't steer me wrong. I highly recommend them! I ordered a 10 piece but by time I returned to my hotel and got comfortable I wish I had ordered more. I will definitely be visiting again next time I am in Jackson.”

“This restaurant was worth 10 stars! We visited late and they brought the food back out to accommodate us. Everything on the menu was homemade and melt in your mouth AMAZING! We tried the pork chops, grilled chicken and ribs. All three of the meats were fall off the bone, melt in your mouth, juicy. The sweet potatoes were the best sweet potatoes we had ever had in our lives! The restaurant was family run and all of the ladies were beyond friendly and overly excited to hear about our travels coming from Kansas City. This is a must in the area and it was easy to access just off the highway.”

It's located in the heart of downtown Ridgewood, which has a beautiful main street with lots of mom and pop shops. You have to scan the barcode on the table to see the menu for the restaurant. Very sanitary. We began our meal with two orders of the fried calamari. Not enough fish and way too many cherry peppers. A bit disappointed. Our entrees included two cheeseburgers, two black bean burgers, and a cobb salad. The cheeseburgers were thick, juicy, cooked to perfection, and most importantly, it held up well in the bun. The black bean burgers were also thick and tasty from what I was told. The cobb salad was a very generous portion. The French fries were very good. Served hot and cooked fresh. Not greasy. Nice portion. I ate all mine and some of my wife's. The service was very good and friendly. Prices were competitive for the area. There was on street parking but your better off parking in a public lot.”

The quaint restaurant is located on Macon St. Walking through the doors the ambience beckoned us in. We were greeted by beautiful wait staff serving everything you can imagine. Beef tips, smothered liver, hamburger steaks in gravy, turkey necks, baked and fried chicken, green beans, lima beans, black-eyed peas, cabbage, okra, rice and gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, turnip and collard greens, yams, corn muffin, sweet potato pie, cinnamon roll and peach cobbler. I can say the food was ON POINT! Very delicious and I did not add salt or pepper. Seasoned very well. We really enjoyed ourselves and had food to take home for dinner.
