“My husband and I were in Jackson with a few hours to kill. We stopped a nice couple in Highland Village to ask where they would recommend us eating lunch. We were both very pleased with their recommendation. I enjoyed the linguine with crawfish tails on which our attentive waitress helped me decide. My husband enjoyed the carne pizza. We will definitely return the next time we’re in town.“

“Today was the 1st time I’ve been to The Manship. We sat outside as the day was overcast and comfortable temps. The atmosphere is laid back southern elegance. Lunch menu choices made it difficult to choose. We started with the seasonal cocktail, a very Manship twist on a French 75 served frozen in a coupe and garnished with a violet. This is one I hope they make a permanent part of their menu. Perfect balance of sweet/sour and delightful on the palate. Next we shared smoked tuna dip served with what I think were fried tortillas seasoned with chili lime and saltine crackers. It rivals the best smoked tuna dip I’ve ever had from along the Atlantic. For entrees we chose small plates: Manship Woodfired Oysters served with focaccia and a special of Bbq pork belly served with Brussel Sprout slaw. I am not fond of brussel sprouts & surprisingly I loved the slaw. The oysters were beautifully served in a dish that kept them warm and not overcooked. The thick slices of bread were perfect for dipping in the butter sauce used in cooking the oysters. The pork belly was so good. Just the right amount of rub and sauce cooked to tender, melt in your mouth perfection. Our server was a total pro. I feel so bad because I didn’t write down her name. My daughter who was with me once worked as a server at a restaurant much like Manship. She was very impressed because our dishes arrived in perfect order and timing. She was knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Do yourself a favor and go eat at this wonderful establishment! We will come back!“

“EVERYTHING! All 3 of us got different, perfectly cooked and artfully plated fish dishes and enjoyed a pan of cornbread and strawberry salad with feta and vinaigrette. Bread pudding was STUPENDOUS as was the Caramel Pie. Our server was attentive, helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to return at lunch with friends. “Let me just say I love the food here and eat at Aplos at least once a week. However, today we were served a salad in a chipped enamel bowl and halfway through the meal we realised we were eating chipped enamel. The manager didn't really rectify the issue when we brought it up. Please consider changing your bowls :(

Edit: they do have new bowls and plates now so no complaints!

“First time going there and had the pig ear slider one was hot the other was mild. The hot is hot like very hot , but the mild was better but they both were delicious. Also had the tamales and they were good as well. I will most definitely be back.“

“My husband said it was the best Catfish he’s ever eaten! He used to travel a lot down south and ate catfish whenever he could. This hands down was the best. Everything was good! The cornbread in the cast iron skillet added to the meal.
We were touring the Medgar Evers home and asked the NPS employee where to have a great lunch. He told us to go there. He said he was from the area and his parents always took him there. Thank you NPS guy!

But happened to do a quick search anyway and Right on Time there it was like a Light House in a storm...Capitol Grill...kitchen open surprisingly late. I gotta say that the food was absolutely delicious! Even to be later in the evening, everything we ordered was fresh and very well prepared. We weren't rushed at all like some places will do when you come in off peak hours for the kitchen. We received Wonderful A+ service from our waitress who gave good recommendations for dinner when we requested them and had fun shooting a couple games of pool afterwards. Overall Great Experience! “My coworker and I visited this place while in town on business. I love the concept. It’s an old house, looks like an old plantation house, turned into a restaurant/bar. When you drive up the front of the house has the big white columns and lots of windows. It definitely looks like a place that used to own slaves. I found a staircase while looking for the bathroom that was hidden and figured that was for the “help.” The dining area is not very spacious, but it went along with the theme. Our table was super close to the others around it, you had no choice but to get to know your neighbors. I got a drink recommended by our server. It was so good, but I can’t remember the name or her name. We had just eaten, so we didn’t get food, but our neighbors seemed to be enjoying their food. The service was amazing here. Everyone was so gracious and kind. Everyone was dressed professionally and seemed to enjoy themselves. Our drinks came out super fast too. I explored the space a bit to find a restroom. That’s when I saw that little staircase. The bathroom was cute and clean. The house looked a bit like a museum. I’d go back again to at least have a chance to try some food.“

“I came down for a drink with a coworker and we ended up ordering food and I was not disappointed! The dip was delicious and they give you so much crab meat on top! They offer a variety of cocktails and mine was made with egg white it was so good! The restaurant is beautiful, they have the bar area, high tops, and low tables. The staff were so sweet and took time to explain the variety of cocktails to us. I even ordered some wings to go which were nice and crispy! Can’t wait to go back!“

“Driven across the country 4 times and have stopped at plenty of Waffle Houses- this has been the best experience so far out of all of them. Service was amazing, the timing to get our food was fast, the food was perfect. I ordered to go, ate in the car, and when I finished came back in to let the staff know how pleased I was- the girl who took my order goes “what’s wrong?” ?
