“I had heard that the mermaid cafe was a nice little restaurant for the Lake Caroline neighborhood where you could get a nice hamburger. I was pleasantly surprised at my culinary experience. I had some of the best red fish that I have ever had and my friend said the same about the fillet. The only thing that exceeded the food was the courtesy from the staff. Highly recommend it“

“Came in for lunch. Was seat immediately and asked for beverage choice and given the options verbally. Which I like. My drink was given to me within 20 seconds of me being seated. I ordered the sushi & tempura lunch combo and a sweet tea. The food came out very fast and was cooked and presented very well.“

“On line website needs to be updated. Veggies on line not same as in restaurant. Would have done phone order differently if known daily available veggies. Was told no more creamed spinach which was listed and no more squash casserole, used to be favorite all the time! Phone order cornbread got rolls. “I gave 5 stars for Ms.Abby at the entrance, I was greeted and thanked for my patience. She was very professional and held a smile that lights up a dark room. I was coming in for a pick up order, and I watched her greet customers in a timely manner with grace and kindness. The young lady behind the bar was kind also, a little overwhelmed it seems. “The restaurant is very cozy. Yia Yia and Papou always come out of the kitchen and greet their guests. They truly treat you like family. I came alone today. Usually come here with my husband. I started with a cup of soup of the day, had the roasted chicken with lemon potatoes as entree, and finished with a slice of lemoncello cake with coffee. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 30 yrs. Dined all of this wonderful country. Yia Yai’s has become one of my top 5 places to dine. Service is impeccable and the cuisine is so authentic and on point. It’s cold outside so it was a hard decision to make over choosing the roasted chicken or the Moussaka that has a hint of cinnamon in the sauce. Sat in the back booth and throughly enjoyed my lunch. “Went here for the first time today. It’s very common to find restaurants that are aesthetically pleasing; however, it’s rare to find one that also has good food and this place definitely has both. As soon as you walk in it’s so cute, the staff is very sweet and the place is very clean. The menu has a lot of options for meat and non meat eaters.
