Char Restaurant

We got there at 8:30 sat promptly however we ordered drinks we never received but were billed for the service was rushed perhaps because it was close to closing the filet was phenomenal but we got it because every other cut of steak was out of stock.

The service was absolutely ridiculously slow. Did not think we would ever get our drinks or food or check so we could leave pathetic do not know when I'm going back. 

First time passing thru Jackson and found this place. Great fried chicken and sides. Dessert was great , and really good service

Magnificent food, service, and friendships! Small plates of spinach crisps, crab claws, tomato tower, and fried green tomatoes!

Kitchen was slow. Took an hour to get our food. The table behind us had an obnoxious man manaplaining airplanes like he was hard of hearing. The table in front of us shared their entire dinner experience on FaceTime on loud with another group of heathens. They laced their conversation with explicit language and cackles. It was a genuine Jackson ms experience.

Everything was amazing I had a guest of 16 for my birthday the service was unmatched!!! Thanks Char

I was surprised that restaurant that had a dress code and a waiting list a mile long had such a meh, Sunday brunch menu.

We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes or more.

It was noisy to the point of yelling across the table to he heard or not speaking at all.

My party was seated next to the private function room where every time someone exited, I was hit with the door.

All in all, I was unimpressed with the body, over priced, restaurant

This place is more on the fine dining side.

The steak was fabulous. I also enjoyed the salad with peanut dressing.

Definitely coming back.

DeMarcus was absolutely fantastic. He was attentive and ensured that we enjoyed our experience. Made exceptional menu recommendations. Not sure how long he’s been there but he is seasoned and was a remarkable, unexpected highlight to our evening.

The food was excellent and the service was excellent. The food is always good when I visit Mississippi.

I'm very disappointed in the food quality, there were only 2 chicken entrées, I ordered the Chicken Piccata and My wife got the red fish special, I didn't like my dish at all, didn't finish it, not even half of it, it was too grease, I ca only taste grease, I don't recommend it.

Otherwise the waiter was nice, but I don't think this is for us.

Char has been one of my favorite restaurants to visit on my trips back home to Jackson, but this last visit was subpar. To start, they have different music playing at the bar vs the rest of the restaurant. Both are too loud so they compete with each other and create a hectic ambiance. For dinner, I tried to order the pork chop — they were out. NY Strip? Out. Filet? Nope. We settled for the ribeye and scallops. Then guess what? They came back to tell us they're out of the pesto quinoa that comes with the scallops. The scallops weren't great and the steak was a bit heavy on the butter from basting. One positive is that the drink was huge and strong, so you get your money's worth there... I've recommended Char to business partners that travel through MS occasionally, but this last trip made me second guess that recommendation. I hope that this was a one time slip up and not indicative of a larger problem, but only time will tell. They've done well enough in the past to earn another shot, so I will likely be back in the next few months. I'm hoping for a better experience since Jackson desperately needs Char to deliver a premium dining experience.

in the city — especially for me and my daughter. We come here often, and it never disappoints. Our usuals are the crab cakes, crab claws, and the spinach crisp to start. She loves their French bread, and I personally love the Char Burger. The Char Salad and the Wedge Salad are simple but so good — sometimes simple done right just hits different.

There are so many great options on the menu, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal here. And if you’re able to come during the week, their lunch specials are worth it — and on Wednesdays, you HAVE to try the fried chicken. Trust me.

Consistent service, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Always a solid choice.

Was traveling from Chattanooga tn to Texas, hungry decided to Google good places for lunch Char came up 4.7 over 1000 votes. Not impressed this place has no empathy for travelers no idea there's a dress code , 70 dollars later left still hungry the portions small will never be back ! 😑 Peace
