A group of us started with a delicious lunch here while listening to some great live music. We even got up and danced a bit. This really is a fun place. We got some history information about the artists and people who frequented Club Ebony. We also got the perspective of living in this club/business in the day from a family member. We learned about the importance of this meeting place to the community. It is in sight of the B.B. King Museum.

It was closed when we were there, but worth stopping to read the sign, if nothing else. Use your imagination and the place comes alive. Close to the B.B. King Museum and Church Street.

If you are visiting the B.B. King Museum in Indianola be sure to visit Club Ebony just around the corner. This is one of Mississippi's oldest Juke Joint built in about 1945 and operated continuously since, as the Mississippi Blues marker, in front of the building, explains. Juke Joints were informal businesses catering to black rural workers in the south where drinking, dancing, music, and gaming were found when Jim Crow Laws prohibited blacks from visiting white establishments. We were there on a Friday afternoon and had hoped the club might be open. Unfortunately we were unable to hear any blues preformed or see the inside. However even if it is closed when you are there you can walk around the building and soak up the history of the place.

Club Ebony was owned by BB King and from the outside it's rustic and old. It was closed and don't know if they keep regular hours. There are some signs outside that give a brief history of the place. It's not far from the museum and good stop to take a couple of pictures
