Comfort Food Restaurants near Jackson, MS

“This was the best smoked chicken and baked beans I’ve ever had that chicken will make you slap your mother and your Grandma. The Olive Branch Chicken Coop has delicious food that is consistently good. Usually I bring the wings home, but one time I ate there and I started to notice how badly the restaurant was kept up. It is uncomfortably hot and you will smell like fried food when you leave due to poor ventilation (this is normal for small restaurants that fry their food - not picking on this place). I was the only one who sat there and ate. I think the 2 guys working there were embarrassed b/c they started cleaning around me.“

“The food was great. Service was awkward. We had one waitress introduce herself. We asked her to give us a moment with the menus. Then we had another waitress introduce herself. Awkward! We didn't know what was going on, then the 2 waitresses were talking once the first realized she was taking her table. Talk about an uncomfortable situation, lol.
Restaurant was nice. Was surprised that there was food on the floor beside our chairs when we were seated. Would have thought they would cleaned from last tables. Wine selection was good. Would have liked to see a wider selection of wine by the glass.
Once waitress situation was resolved, everything went great.“

“This is definitely my new lunch spot anytime I need to come to Jackson. They have some really good hush puppies and the catfish is just perfect. We really like the laid back atmosphere with the cafeteria style tables. It felt like we were at home with the family. The food tastes just like what Grandma makes! I promise. The ladies in the back whipping up culinary perfection seem to really care about what they cook and they are very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip to Jackson.“
