I never got food or a refund! The restaurant was out of everything I ordered online. The owner said to call Toast for the refund and gave out their number. Toast said the store would handle refunds. No one answered the number the owner gave me as her number. I left amessage, no call back. No food, no refund.

The food was actually good. But the rest of my dining experience was terrible. The waitress asked us to order online, even though the full menu wasn’t available online. The restaurant was freezing so we had to eat with our coats on because the owner had taken the heaters home. The little room on the side was dirty and the floor was disgusting. My feet literally were sticking to the floor. We moved to the bar area hoping it was warmer and cleaner. After finally placing our order, I looked around and happen to glance at the fans right above my head. The fans had years of caked on dirt. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Although we dined in, our food was served in to go container. Again the food was decent, but the restaurant was not clean. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

Today was my birthday. My sister planned this maybe a week in advance and paid a fee. We were told there would be brunch and soul food. We were encouraged to notify the owner of any soulfood orders ahead of time to be sure she had enough for my party.I arrived 15min late to my own party. But when I came in everyone was seated and I noticed no one had water or any beverages on the table. The waiter, who was sweet, didn't come into the the room until at least 15 after i had arrived. She took drink orders and did not come back for a good while, maybe 30 min.She never took our order. When the drinks finally came, I was disappointed at bottomless mimosas in a styrofoam cup at brunch, we had yet to order food and had been there for more than an hour. We made the decision to leave. The owner then comes out saying she was waiting for us to "send our orders in" as in order online and wait for it to be brought to us in to go plates. We decided to stay bc she said the food was already ready and once the orders were in, we would be served. My family is older and no one wants to be squinting at their phone to place an order when you have been sat at restaurant for a party. The owner offered to take our orders, claiming it was no problem. She took 4 people order and left to go "put it in" and stated she would be right back. About 15 min later the waiter comes back to take the other 12 orders. It still took us another hour or more to get food. The food was brought out one person at at time, eggs first. Some of my party never got food bc they "ran out". They didnt notify ys of that and just let my family wait hungry. We ended up cutting the cake before food started arrive bc we were all starving.She said two people didn't come in and xyz. We are very understanding but this was poor service and she could have handled it better. We purposefully picked a black owned restaurant for this occasion. We love our community and love to support the dream of what Jackson can look like. Today we were let down tremendously. The food was OK, and the place has potential for small dining, but if word of mouth is what will keep it afloat, this can't be something that the owner let's happen often. I would not go back or reccomend to anyone. It's starting to feel better to just stay home bc restaurants bc not only is everything higher, service is not even a consideration. Paper plate, cups, silverware, to go plates. Just make this a pick up restaurant.

Taylor the waitress was great! I waited almost two hours for a cold waffle cold eggs and cold bacon! The owner was the cook and slow af. This was not a good experience.

Let me start by saying the food was good. I had turkey necks, cabbage, yams and cornbread. But I have come to try this place *twice* based on the owner's FB postings. And I've sent a church group for brunch. Lol it's never what she says online, so let's get that out of the way.I came on my lunch break abt 10 mins after 11a. I did not get my food(to-go order) until 1140. And this is after being told my order would take just 4 mins. I gave a tip upfront and this is my first time ever wanting to take my tip back. LolIt is very small. It smells weird. Every thing is old and dirty *looking* And the restrooms are right on top of(very close to) the bar/kitchen.Ion like that.I'm sure this lady is very sweet and is doing her best. But we need some more realistic reviews on this place so people will know what they're getting into when they come.Maybe place a phone order and wait outside until ur food is ready or have it delivered.Food pictured. Idk if I got extra necks because of the wait, or if this is the normal serving size. ??♀️ but again, the food was good.

The food is very good..I wish they were open more.. If youre new on trying them, You will have to look on Facebook to know if they're open before you plan on visiting . Maybe in the future that will change..

Wonderful atmosphere!! The owner and her staff was very nice. The FOOD was soooo good! I had chicken and waffles and everything was made from scratch. The owner welcomed us with open arms. This is the place to be!!
