If we could give more than 5 starts we would! The food was great, the music fantastic but the atmosphere and friendliness was outstanding. We felt like one of the locals by the end of the evening. The Gypsies
I don’t know how they were. Google maps said call for hours. These may not be correct. I called numerous times and finally someone picked up the phone and hung up. Why don’t you just invest in an answering machine giving your hours instead of being so rude. We were from out of town, and it heard very good things about this place. When I’m back in Jackson again, I won’t even attempt it.

While on vacation from Wisconsin, we were looking for a southern dining experience, and this hit all the marks. We went for Tuesday jazz night. The music and atmosphere were fantastic. Our server was great. The food was outstanding. We especially loved the Red Beans 'Ann White' Rice and the fried okra. The kids weren't as thrilled about the place as we were but the kitchen kindly modified their spaghetti to put the meatballs and sauce on the side, and the kids said that was good :)

200 COMMERCE STREET, DOWNTOWN, JACKSON! At HAL AND MALS, is the ?place?to?be!!!!!!They have live music, concerts, and an amazing brunch and dinner menu!!!! Me and my husband went Friday night, he ordered the date night shrimp, and I got the reef and beef. What an amazing steak!!!!!! The chef’s need a personal back rub for caring all that passion in the way they cook! Definitely stopping by again when we are in town!

Fantastic, would be an understatement! The moment you walk through those historical doors, you are overwhelmed with such a positive energy flowing throughout the place! The staff is so welcoming, the food and music is top- TIER! I got the Reef & Beef, when I bit into that steak, it’s like all my problems vanished, and I was (one) with the steak! We WILL BE BACK!

Went there for Blues Monday, the best kept secret in Jackson! There is no night of rhythm and blues anywhere in the country that can top Jackson, Mississippi’s Blues Monday at Hal & Mals every Monday evening starting at 7:30 PM!
