Sal & Mookie's New York Pizza & Ice Cream Joint - Jackson

Online order. Disappointed in the small amount of chicken in my dinner Alfredo but enjoyed the taste. Pizza and wings were good. Good quality ingredients.

As I placed my to go order,I noticed a lady walked directly into the glass door. She literally slammed her face on the glass. When I got my meaty Nola pizza and portobello mushrooms, I thought to myself Sal&Mookies door windows are so clean you can see and walk through them. 😆

this place is one of one, me and my friend went for the first time and the scenery is amazing, the area is beautiful and the food was even better! our server was very very kind, i think about this place frequently actually!

We stopped at Sal and Mookie’s in Jackson, MS on 6/28/25 while traveling through the area. We called in our order at 3:00 p.m. and requested a 4:00 p.m. pickup. The order included two Upstate sandwiches (no sauces, mayo added) and a 14” Franklin Street pizza.

When I arrived just after 4:00, the restaurant was nearly empty, yet our food was not ready. It wasn’t until 4:30 that we finally received our order—an unnecessary delay given how slow business was.

To make matters worse, the quality of the food was extremely disappointing. The sandwiches were overcooked, fries were soggy, and the requested mayo was not added. The pizza was undercooked in the center and lacked the quality we expected.

Overall, this was a frustrating and unsatisfying experience. Given the delay and poor food quality, I regret not choosing a faster and more reliable option.

The pizza is awesome but so is everything else. Meatball sub is my favorite right now. The ice cream counter is fun and the strawberry milkshake is a tasty dessert.

Sal and Mookies has always been a favorite. Drove from Gluckstadt to get Sal and Mookies and arrived a full 45 minutes before 9:00, the advertised close time. The doors were locked. When I said through the door that the restaurant is advertised as not closed until 9:00, a staff just said “I know.” She was not impolite but didn’t seem too concerned. People drive based on the advertised times and it really isn’t acceptable to close even a minute before that time, and certainly not 45 minutes before. Food is great but cavalier disregard for customers time by not sticking to advertised hours is a big knock on any place.

Thank You Mackenzie and Wyvonia for an absolutely wonderful evening. You made our night extremely special. The food was wonderful, you were very attentive to our needs for such a large group. (60people)The patio was set up exactly as we expected and the service was above all expectations. We will be back!!

The manager Mackenzie and server JB were Awesome! We came in with a large party of 25 our girls Volleyball team and they had us ready to be seated by the time that we got there (coaches went ahead of the team). They were so attentive and made sure that we had everything that was needed! 5 star service indeed! Great choice in staff Mr. Good!!

We were there for three hours with our team. Not only did they forget to ring in half the order but when they brought the food it was cold. Even before that we were ignored for an hour with not even waters brought to our table. We had reservations made in advance and they assured us that they could handle the amount of orders wrung in. We’ve dined here before so we had great expectations that were quickly squashed. I am very disappointed in my service.

This is my third time coming, I was so excited to come back again…

Unfortunately it was a miss, the pizza was pulled a little early so the crust was a little doughy. It was very fresh and you could tell the ingredients were high-quality, but it lacked flavor because the crust didn’t get to the place It needed to with the heat.

The pizza I tried had chicken and sun-dried tomatoes. It was very bland and had several areas with unpleasant textures… I wound up removing the sun-dried tomatoes, then covering it in red pepper flakes and Parmesan.

If I could go back in time, I would just ask them to remake it into something else.
