The Brussels were cold, maybe that's how they are supposed to be, but my gumbo was cold in the center, not fully warmed up. Other than that, it was ok.
Absolutely loved everything I ate here. The oysters were priced super reasonably and were fresh and delicious. I got the Cajun pasta and was surprised by the depth of flavor. Service and atmosphere were both perfect when we stopped in around lunchtime and the food came out quick. If we are ever passing through again will definitely swing back by.

Great food, service, and location. The only negative was it was pretty loud. I'd definitely eat there again.
First time visiting Saltine while in town from out of state, and I was really pleased! Parking was easy and the Fondren area is super cute with lots of nearby shops and restaurants. The building itself has great character. It’s an old red brick elementary school, and the inside has a relaxed, eclectic vibe. The seating is a bit tight.
We were seated right away, and our server Zack was amazing; friendly, patient, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the Rockefeller oysters, kale salad with shrimp, calamari, and catfish with hush puppies and fries. Everything was delicious! The only thing I didn’t love was the slaw on top of the calamari. I pushed that to the side lol. The calamari had great flavor and crunch.
Loved the drinks too. Great Bloody Mary and a nice Sauvignon Blanc. The atmosphere was relaxed around 5:30 but turned more into a date night or group gathering vibe later on. Definitely a place I’d come back to next time I’m in Mississippi.

Great po’boys, refreshing drinks AND THE BEST DESSERT: the banoffee. We were just passing thru town googling great places to eat and we were extremely pleased with Saltine Restaurant. You have to try it! We also learned that it’s in a hip neighborhood. So if you have time - go explore.

Absolutely delicious! This place is amazing. The atmosphere is very unique and intriguing, but comfortable. It is inside an old converted elementary school. All of the food was amazing. I would especially recommend the spinach oysters! This area gets very busy on the weekends, but you can typically find parking somewhere…

I didn't know we were going G to be seated in the hallway which has the least ambience of the entire place. It's the only real complaint I have. We could see people we wanted to see inside the restaurant before the concert and that was the whole point of the reservation.. next time I'm going to call and not use open table.
Food was great and waitress was awesome. Will go back again

As usual customers, we were disappointed that a staple product "had ran out" by the time we checked in for our lunch (12:15 pm). Telling us no more gumbo was available was terrible. The lunch menu is getting thinner by the day with less options. We will start thinking about other places from here on.
Just grabbed solo dinner at the bar. Tried the shrimp poboy and had OldBay fries. Rather good, had maple cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert. Really good taste was but I think the cinnamon roll was really overcooked and just didn’t go with the rest of the texture of the plate.

My experience dining on Sunday for their brunch service left much to be desired! Instead of offering a chance to connect and enjoy a good meal with family, we all left stressed, unsatisfied, and frustrated with the overall experience. While our waiter seemingly did her best to manage the overwhelming amount of tables she was assigned, we unfortunately became a casualty of poor customer service and business acumen. We waited over 30mins to be served our drink orders although they had been placed within 5 minutes of being seated. We also waited another hour and a half to receive one parcel of food. I had to ask repeatedly for napkins, lemons, and for an update on when we could expect to be served our meals. Once we did receive our food, they were cold and overcooked; however, after waiting over an hour there was no point in sending them back. Granted we wouldn't have been able to get the waiter to complain since she was often nowhere to be found. The service was so poor, the table next to us left without ever being served. We also never received any type of apology or accommodation from the manger. Overall, this experience left a bad taste in our mouths. After this experience, it is unlikely I will choose Saltine as a place to dine again. For note, we did have a reservation.
