Usually the food is always amazing but the grits were a little off. Other than that I enjoyed it!!

I dropped in en route to a show, craving a civilized three-act dinner: appetizer overture, salad intermission, wood-fired finale. Instead, the kitchen staged a one-act sprint—thirty minutes of silence and then bam: all three courses crash the table like a surprise birthday party for my entrée. Pacing here is less “tasting menu” and more “airport moving walkway.”

To be fair, The Manship has a cheering section. Diners on OpenTable give it strong marks overall (food, service, ambience), and TripAdvisor puts it near the top of Jackson’s roster. Even the Yelpers are largely smitten. Fans rave about the pizzas, shrimp & grits, and that smoked-tuna dip—the sort of crowd-pleasers that make you consider forgiving chronology.

The wine program? Credentialed—recognized by Star Wine List—which explains the confident pricing. Unfortunately, the affordable end reads like a short story while the triple-digit bottles feel like the novel they really want you to read. Call it oenological upsell chic; I call it sticker shock with a cork.

Ambience is where opinions diverge. Some guests describe “modern and artistic”; my table faced décor so beige it could witness protection. Noise hits “moderate” by house standards—perfect if you like your banter with background hum, less ideal if you’re workshopping witticisms between acts.

Bottom line: if you catch the kitchen on its best behavior, you’ll understand the local fandom. If, like me, you’re courting conversation and course spacing, prepare for a culinary pile-up. Rating: 2 logs out of 5 (add a third if the timing ever learns its cues).

They have outdoor seating , which we love this time of the year!!! We didn't know how pricey this place was till we sat down at our table , so we decided on pizzas since they were a little more affordable!!! They were AMAZING!!!! Don't sleep on the veggie pizza , the flavor was 10/10!!! I will be back and order it !! Our waitress was very good at her job and checked on us several times!!!

Before I start with my main review, let me say this place is physically decent, it was clean and lots of tables to accommodate customers. Location was great and the service was good. Now for the main review:

We are from out of town and we were in the vicinity, doing a lot of walking. Since we were tired and hungry, we decided to just go a place that's near to us. My daughter saw Manship's online reviews as really good, there were a lot of 4 & 5 stars so we decided to go there. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Here's why:

1. I ordered rotisserie chicken, it was tough and the flavor was bad. It tasted like they used a marinade or bbq sauce that's from dollar general. No offense to dollar general but this restaurant's prices are on the high end.

2. My wife ordered lasagna, and after three bites, she pushed it away, she said it was horrendous. I just gave her my rotisserie chicken since I couldn't eat it, but she said she'd rather have my chicken instead of the lasagna.

3. My daughter ordered salmon. Her take: it was dry, too toasted, and no flavor.

4. My son got a whole pizza and since I couldn't eat my chicken, I asked for a slice from him. When I bit on the pizza, it took some effort to pull it away from my mouth...it was tough.

5. Finally, we also ordered charbroiled oysters. When it was served, it looked suspicious because one can barely see the actual oysters. They were pretty small. It was covered with too much cheese and sauce. When we tried it, it tasted like pizza. What oysters tasting like pizza?

6. My bill total with tax: $180

Price range on this restaurant is on the high side, so it's expected for the food to be exceptional or the least, decent. It was such a big disappointment and everybody in my family unanimously decided, we should never go back to this place. I believe we all arrived at a great conclusion.

Good was really excellent. I had the blackened red fish, and it was wonderful. The blackening was fine to perfection, and the fish itself was fresh and flavorful. Also had the fried green tomatoes with crab. Really a treat. My colleague had the stump and grits and reported that it was great. Definitely recommend this spot in Jackson, MS.

The food is okay. Not $300 okay though and definitely not worth the 20% extra that was added to my bill for a service fee. The service is so slow at one point i was thinking we were forgotten about. I didn't think it was really busy but I have never waited so long for my order to be taken in my life , I'm sure it was around 30 minutes before they came and asked what we wanted. Even then i felt like we were interrupting their busy life by being there. After finally ordering it was ages before the food started being brought out. Unfortunately it was 1 at a time so some of our group was finished eating before others even got their food. I don't think I will be back and can definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone unless you order ahead for pickup maybe.

Normally the juicy Lucy is top tier today not so much the bread wasn’t toasted, the patty was dry and the cheese was burnt. The manager had the food remade and took care of ticket but the remake wasn’t good it was like the same burger. I’m so disappointed I would have rather had a good quality juicy Lucy I fell inlove. with who ever the chef is 10/9/25 @1:30 you’re being lazy. Last time I ordered around dinner and I the food was outstanding! This time not at all. I could just scream

Lots of seating available, inside and out. I'd recommend getting an appetizer if you're really hungry. The red fish special was delicious and I loved the pecan pie, which came in a hot cast iron skillet with ice-cream on top. Service was quick and I left 45 minutes after I entered.

I loved the service. Destinae was our server and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and the salmon special for my entree. Everything was delicious and properly seasoned. I would definitely return!!!!

I made an order on 9-6-25 and I didn't receive all the food in my bags. I asked the young lady did I have everything and she assured me I did. When I got home my wife said there was no meat on her salad. I called back and informed the manager and she said she will credit my card for the Whole salad but it won't go in until Monday. I said that's Great. I checked Thursday and discovered it had not went in. I called and tried to talk with the manager, they said he will call me back. I called several times and never heard back from them. My last time going there.Note: I checked back with my credit card company and was informed that the purchase was refunded. Thank you for keeping your word.
