What an amazing place, a step back in time. A time when life was simple, food was good, and waitstaff was great! Leanna is a treasure! The food was super, steaks were perfect, truffle fries are a must. Thanks for the great experience.

Some of the best food and service I have witnessed. Our server was nice, knowledgeable and prompt. I would give it 6 stars if that was an option.

Tucked away in the heart of Laurel, Edgar’s Steakhouse serves up a classic Southern steakhouse experience with a few elevated surprises. On a recent visit, I had the chance to sample a bit of what this local favorite has to offer, and while there were a few minor missteps, the overall experience was satisfying.

I started with the sautéed crab claws, a promising appetizer that showcased fresh Gulf flavor. The claws were generously portioned and sautéed with a bold hand. While the taste was there, a few of the claws were a bit on the tough side, and the dish leaned a little heavy on the onion—just enough to slightly overwhelm the delicate sweetness of the crab. A touch more balance could’ve taken this dish from good to great.

For the entrée, I went with the ribeye burger, paired with steak fries. Simply put, the burger was a highlight. Cooked to absolute perfection, it was juicy, flavorful, and had a wonderfully rich beefiness. The real star here, though, was the bacon jam—sweet, smoky, and just the right amount of indulgent. It added a depth of flavor that elevated the whole bite.

The steak fries, while hearty and crisp, weren’t quite my style. They were thick-cut and golden, but seemed to have stayed in the fryer a bit too long, making them overly crunchy on the outside and edging toward dry inside. That said, fry lovers who enjoy a serious crunch might feel differently.

Final verdict: Edgar’s delivers on its promise of quality meats and hearty Southern flavors. With a few tweaks—particularly in balancing flavors and fine-tuning texture—this could be one of Laurel’s best-kept secrets. The burger alone is worth coming back for.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times, always for supper. We’ve tried multiple items and have never been disappointed. Crab claws, steak, baked potato, bread pudding, etc. have all been good. The staff is always very nice. Always a solid dining experience.

Ok. I've wanted to write one about this for awhile. Here's the good stuff.
1. The food was great. And I mean great. It was a high end dinner.
2.They had 🍷 ect.
3. Service was fantastic. 10 out of 10
4. Parking was simple and easy.
5. Menu was simple and easy.

Now the bads.
1. Bathroom needs remodeled, ceiling falling. Dirty counters. Very dated.
2. Environment has a bit of a dive feel. Tables arent comfortable.
Chairs aren't comfortable at all.
3.Came here for a buisness dinner and the music was loud . If it was a higher comfort and a bit more classy environment I bet they'll knock it out of the park.

Food was a 10 out of 10. It's good stuff. !!

Meals were delicious. Waitress was a bit slow on drink refills, but she was good on everything else. The atmosphere was good but the place looked a bit old but clean.

We traveled 120 miles to eat dinner with our daughter. This restaurant was definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere was cozy. The service (Jenny) was awesome. She helped us decide on what to try. The food was outstanding. I had the Eggplant Ellouise (best I have ever eaten). My husband and daughter had the ribeye burger with home cut fries. They ate every bit of it! We had the Charcuterie Board which was very good. My favorite part of the entire meal was the homemade hot bacon vinaigrette. I could have drank it from the bottle it was that good. We will definitely be back!
