Catfish was what we came for and it was great
, but man the corn ribs were awesome! Good fries and onion ribs too.
Good fish at a good price. Well worth the slight detour off the highway for lunch (and not a chain and very clean).

Nice jazz music, good fried fish.
Styrofoam plates that melted due to the hot fish, not a good look.
Bathroom had no TP and had a sign that said “You never know what you have until it’s gone.
Toilet Paper, for instance.”
I think they planned that

Visiting Laurel for a couple of days as we passed through on our way home to Alabama after visiting family in Texas for Thanksgiving. It happened to be my husband's birthday! Mr. Fish was near our Air BnB, so we decided to try it, and it did not disappoint. The service was prompt, polite, and helpful. Our food came quickly, and it was fresh tasting and hot. The restaurant is very nicely decorated with a "fishing cabin" kind of vibe, and impressed us with its cleanliness. My husband said the bathrooms were cleaner than ours at home! (Gee, thanks, Honey!) Although it serves fried fish, the restaurant smelled fresh and clean, not greasy or "fishy" like many restaurants we have been to with a similar menu. Our catfish was obviously cooked by people who know how to cook catfish! It was meaty in the middle with just the right amount of tasty breading. My husband had fried catfish with fries, baked beans, and coleslaw, and he said all of his fish and sides were yummy! I had the fried catfish with Onion Rings and baked beans, and mine were yummy, too! The onion rings were very Large! We both liked our hushpuppies. This establishment clearly does a booming take-out business, but we enjoyed dining in. They have desert cakes by the slice, and since it was my husband's birthday, we ordered the cake of the day...their poundcake! They even sent someone to the nearby Dollar General for candles just so my husband could have the traditional "make a wish" experience with his slice of cake. This was above and beyond kind and generous service! The owners even came out, introduced themselves, and sang happy birthday to him! It was a very nice and positive dining experience for both of us in every way, and we highly recommend Mr. Fish to all!

Mistaken order results in new favorite.
I went back to get my correct order the following week after a mistake by the restaurant. Came away so pleased with the reception, kindness, quality of food and everything.

I was just passing through on my way back back to Nashville, TN and I’m so glad this place didn’t pass me by. The food is AMAZING and everyone in that establishment felt like family. I will never come this way again and not stop by Mr. Fish! What a GEM 😉
