Rusty Pelican Restaurant is truly a gem in Mississippi. Not only do they serve one of the best breakfasts in the area—with amazing beignets, quality coffee, and refreshing fruit tea—but the atmosphere is what makes this place special.
The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially with children. My kids absolutely love this restaurant and constantly talk about coming back for their favorite dishes. From the moment you walk in, you feel a warm, home-like environment that makes you want to stay longer.
Their Asian menu is outstanding, with the pho easily ranking as the #1 Vietnamese dish in the area. Rusty Pelican offers great food, genuine hospitality, and a family-friendly experience that keeps guests coming back.

I ordered eggs sausage links and grits. The grits never have enough salt when they are cooked. Something was not right with the eggs and sausage. Something tasted old or gone bad. I only ate 2 bites and told server about. He apologized but did nothing about it. I paid full price with no discount. I don't know what has changed but the quality of food has declined rapidly and significantly. They have lost my business

My husband and I stopped here for brunch during a road trip. Overall, we were satisfied. I ordered a café au lait, but its taste was not as good as what I have had elsewhere.
However, in this town, Rusty Pelican is a good breakfast/brunch option due to its menu variety and long serving hours.

My wife and I have been customers of this establishment for years. After the new owners took over the prices have increased and the portions are very small. The breaking point with me was when I ordered an omelet and received a half of an omelet for my breakfast. The staff have always been great and shared their concerns with us . They are telling us the owner refuses to hear them about multiple instances of the same complaint. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

The food was a solid 3/5 overall. What stood out the most was the bacon, it was cooked perfectly crispy, which I really enjoyed. The rest of the meal was okay, though not the best I’ve had. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing (1/5). I came in with my young son and his bag, and when I asked for a high chair, I was told to get it myself. I brushed this off at first, assuming the staff might have been busy. However, after receiving our drinks, our table was largely overlooked. The restaurant was not very busy, yet we did not receive refills, and it was difficult to get our server’s attention despite multiple attempts. After finishing our meal, we waited approximately 25 minutes for the check, unsure whether we were supposed to pay at the table or at the front. When we eventually walked up to the front, we were initially ignored before being assisted. I want to be clear that this review is not meant to be an attack on the staff or the establishment. I truly hope this was an isolated experience. However, it did leave me feeling uncomfortable, especially as I appeared to person of color. I sincerely hope that was not a factor, but I want to share how the situation came across from my perspective. My intention in leaving this review is simply to provide honest feedback in hopes that it helps improve the overall customer experience. I mean no offense to the owners or staff and hope this is taken as an opportunity to review customer service so all guests feel equally welcomed and cared for. If you have a drop of melanin in your skin don’t even bother coming. I have never felt such a racist atmosphere in my life.Our waitress treated us like we didn’t exist but was kind and attentive to everyone else. I ordered something simple because I wasn’t that hungry so I just got a grilled cheese and hush puppies. My grilled cheese tasted like it was made with old grease, how you mess up a grilled cheese is beyond me but I digress.My hush puppies were literally raw on the inside but crispy and burnt on the outside. We were ignored 90% of the time by our waitress and were never even offered a refill. I will not be returning.

Phenomenal Pho that I could have for breakfast. I'm not a breakfast person so that made me so happy. The rest of my family had beautiful breakfasts that were very reasonably priced. Our server recommended the Beignets and we are so glad she did. They were pretty perfect. Everything was well-prepared and tasty. Again, Pho for BREAKFAST!! yeah!!
