One of the Worst Dining Experiences I’ve Ever Had – Diamond Jim’s and Ms. Donna’s Should Be Avoided at All Costs

I’m from out of town and was told by a few locals that this place was “a hidden gem.” Well, they must’ve meant it was buried for a reason—because Diamond Jim’s and Ms. Donna’s was an absolute disaster from the moment we walked in.

From the outside, it looks promising—rustic charm, maybe a little Southern class. But stepping inside was like walking into a Cracker Barrel that went bankrupt ten years ago and someone just reopened it without cleaning, restocking, or even cooking anything. The atmosphere was depressing, dark, and dated. It honestly felt like a forgotten roadside diner someone tried to resurrect overnight and failed.

The prices were insultingly high for what you got. Foam plates. Frozen yeast rolls. Prepackaged butter. Overcooked food. The “buffet” came out in chipped, mismatched dishes that looked like they were dug out of a flea market bin—or worse, scraped off the floor after a fall.

The waitstaff was unprofessional and looked completely disinterested. One server, in particular, was sloppily dressed, missing teeth, and barely acknowledged us. It was honestly uncomfortable.

Menus were marked up with Sharpie—crossed-out items everywhere due to price hikes or being out of stock. We spent more time trying to figure out what they didn’t have than what they did.

This place needs a complete overhaul—or better yet, to shut down for good. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not even as a joke. It was embarrassing, unsanitary, and a complete waste of time and money.

This used to be a great restaurant. I will never return nor recommend. Service was awful, steak was not prepared as ordered, salad bar is very sad. Way overpriced for the upcharges. NEVER AGAIN!

Food was very good

This is a great local steakhouse. They are a little pricey on the steaks, but they were delicious and cooked perfectly. My sons had the chicken and they said it was great! I'm glad we tried them out while we were staying in Meridian. Kiki was a great server, very kind and attentive. Thank you

My family and I were looking forward to a nice steak dinner, so we decided to come to Diamond Jim’s and Mrs. Donna’s, We have been sitting in here an hour and a half, three tables have been served and we are still waiting on our food. When I inquired about our order the response was “we are
Sorry your order was miss placed”… So disappointed in the service.

We held a surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday on 8/2/2024. The service was great, the food was great, everyone was so friendly! The salad bar was tasteful and also clean. Our waitress was Megan and she was so attentive and patient with our large party. Our appetizers and steaks come out at a timely manner and cooked to our expectations.

We always look for something local. We had not had steak and so we found Diamond Jim's. Staff seemed confused,nervous, or uncertain. Overall it was a good steak at a reasonable price. Soup selection was lacking but the salad bar was good.

First time here since the name and ownership changed. My filet mignon was delicious, except it was overcooked. The mixed vegetables were just bad. The salad bar was good, as it always was in the past. My wife had the grilled catfish, which was terrific!
We'll definitely go back, but we won't order the mixed vegetables as a side, and I'll be more specific about how I'd like my steak.

My husband and I went here to eat last night for his Birthday. He ordered a medium rare New York Strip and I ordered a Hamburger Steak. His steak was med well and had no seasoning or grill marks. The waitress agreed that it was almost well done and said she would have another steak prepared. The brought his 2nd steak out and it was well done. I paid for my meal that was over cooked as well and left. We drove down to Lu’s steakhouse and he got his steak dinner cooked perfectly Medium Rare. We will never go back to this restaurant.
