Rudders Pub and Grill — it’s the kind of place you’d hear about through the grapevine at NAS Meridian, whispered about among pilots, A-School grads, and anyone who’s ever needed a break from the grind. Tucked right there on base, Rudders isn’t just a spot to grab a bite; it’s a little sanctuary where the stress slips away, and for a few hours, you’re just one of the regulars. But here’s the kicker: they’ve got the best wings in the state. I don’t say that lightly. I mean wings so good they’d hold their own in any big-city joint, but right here, just steps away from the tarmac.
There’s something magical about those wings — crispy, with just the right amount of kick, cooked perfectly every time. They’re not some pre-made, over-fried nonsense. These are wings made with the care of people who understand that after a day spent in a flight suit or pushing through phase after phase, a solid plate of wings is exactly what you need. Whether you’re into buffalo, barbecue, or something with a little extra heat, they’ve got you covered. Every bite is the kind that has you looking at your buddies across the table, like, “Is this really happening?”
Now, let’s talk about the vibe. The folks at Rudders get it. The staff — they’re warm, they’re welcoming, they’re quick with a refill and a smile that makes you feel like you’ve been coming here for years, even if it’s your first time. This place is more than just a pub; it’s like a little slice of home, where no one’s in a rush, and the friendly faces know just when to bring you another round or ask if you need anything else.
Rudders has everything you’d want after a long week or a tough day — a cold beer, unbeatable wings, and an atmosphere that feels like a deep breath. It’s a place that understands the life of sailors and airmen, and it’s clear they’re here to make you feel welcome, whether you’re in uniform or unwinding. Just make sure you’re in phase 2 before you pull up a seat. This is where the real relaxation happens, and, trust me, it’s a well-deserved break.

If you go before the line starts it's really nice. Once the crowd comes in the wait is long.
Kid-friendliness: There's a little playground outside, an archery range, golf range.

The cashier was very nice and helpful. Many empty tables but only a couple were clean (well not extremely sticky.) Never saw anyone come out to wipe the tables.
The sandwiches were very dry and onion rings tasted like they were fried in very old grease. They were very greasy and were not edible!
Will not return!
