If you ever find yourself down in south central Mississippi, there is a little town called Mize, located in the heart of Smith County. At the four way stop (the only four way stop) in Mize, right where Hwy 35 and 28 intersect, is a place I need to tell y’all folks about. It’s called The Mize Hamburger House. Now, I’m not a fan of hamburgers, or fast food in general, but this place is special. Originally opened back in the 1950’s, and under the care of a few different owners, this place has been filling hungry bellies for years. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted with a friendly “hello”, and told to sit where it pleases you. I’d recommend the bar top, since the grill in mere feet in front of you, and you can watch your order as it’s prepared. Heck, if you’re hungry, it’s almost torture because you know how good the food will be, just as soon as it hits your plate. Now, true to the name, they specialize in burgers... hamburgers, cheese burgers, bacon cheese burgers and double bacon cheese burgers. And depending on how hungry you are, you can get any of those burgers normal or large. *Warning* If you get the large double bacon cheeseburger, you’d best bring along a friend, cause they gonna need to wheel you outta there in a wheel barrow. In addition to burgers, they have all different types of sandwiches and plates to choose from. And no order would be complete without a heaping helping of fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings, am I right? Now, here’s an important point not to miss, so pay close attention... at The Mize Hamburger House, they have these bottles of yellow sauce, called House Sauce, that you can put on your fries, burgers, or whatever. Now y’all listen closely.. the Bible says, “on the 7th day, God rested”. I’m sure that’s true, but on the 8th day, you know what God did?... he created the House Sauce. I’d put that stuff on everything but ice cream... and maybe even that too. It’s not just “slap yo mama” good. It’s slapping mama’s, grandmama’s, other peoples grandmama’s, and anyone else you decide to slap, good. Best believe that. So if y’all ever find yourself in need of some friendly service and great food, all at a reasonable price, drop on by The Mize Hamburger House and give it a try... you and your belly will be so glad you did! Hamburger House in Mize Mississippi is a small family owned burger/fast food joint that has not disappointed me yet. They have a house dressing there that is so good! My burger and fries I ordered this evening were cooked fresh in front of me and I enjoyed the small town atmosphere. The staff was courteous, the food delicious and I left full and happy.
