My friends and I had an amazing time and everything was perfect! Ryder was incredible, the entire staff was so attentive, and the food was so good.
We stopped in Oxford overnight and had to eat dinner at the famous City Grocery. It was an enjoyable experience with very well thought out dishes. We started with the crab bisque and then had the pork cheek entree. The bisque was good, but the pork cheek stole the show. The pickled apples really set it off. Overall, it was an 8.5 out of 10.
We came to celebrate our anniversary and everything was exceptional ❤️ From the welcome glass of champagne to the Mississippi Pot Roast (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) and the pineapple tres leches! My husband ordered the Teres Major and it was also cooked to perfection 🙌🏼 We came to Oxford just for a short getaway and are so glad we were recommended to go to City Grocery. Would love to come back!
I had the black eye pea crusted catfish, which was amazing. The only complaint I have is that the menu said it comes with roasted okra but I got comparatively bland green beans instead. Still was good but I was looking forward to a bit more of a Southern flavor profile.
The shrimp appetizer was falling apart from the heads..needed to be peeled and deveined. Tasted great but looked simmered too long
We had a reservation here after the Ole Miss playoff win! The atmosphere was perfect and the wait staff was very helpful. It was a great night and we enjoyed the cocktail menu.
City Grocery presents itself as fine dining, but there were conflicting aspects of the experience- candlelight, impeccably dressed servers, white tablecloths, but paper table covers over those tablecloths, blue paper menus in plastic sleeves, no cocktail menu, and a rock playlist that did not align. The service also did not meet our expectations- the server had moments that lacked professionalism despite his appearance and ignored my empty wine glass for the entirety of dinner as he eagerly offered my fiancé additional martinis. With that said, the food was beautifully presented and delicious.
Service was good and attentive. Great ambiance. And the food - wow. Every person thought their meal was truly amazing. Best meals we have had in a very long time. A must visit for all our future visits to Oxford.
Always a great time! Love this place. Food is great, staff are wonderful. Do not miss when you are in Oxford.
We loved our dinner at City Grocery. The food was phenomenal! The service was great, thank you Vic for the great service. The only down, which is a small factor, was the ambient lighting was a little low causing some strain on your eyes to be able to read the menu.

The Oxford OG! Always know you are going to get a great meal at City Grocery every time you go. Service is always outstanding as well. Definitely one of, if not the best in town.
Our Group of 5 joined for late night dinner after the OM USC game. One would have never guessed it was the end of a very long day of food service! Staff was attentive and food was delicious. We each ordered something different and it was all superb. Will be back for another post game dinner celebration. Hotty Toddy City Grocery!
The reviewer below should change her name to Kookie Kook. The shrimp and grits was phenomenal. Definitely not too salty as Kook incorrectly claimed. The crab rangoon dip was also a hit. Perfect proportion and taste. As for the ambiance, it was also amazing, as I was able to easily converse with my wife who enjoyed her City Salad and butternut squash soup. Ryder was on point with his service.
Great experience! Don’t listen to Kook!

We enjoyed it. It's a great restaurant with awesome service. 2 of us had the “rack” of lamb which was delicious. It wasn't a rack though - it was 3 tiny, tiny chops cooked to perfection. More like lollipops than a rack. Pretty disappointing and we had to order some appetisers after the main as we were still hungry as well as ask for some more of their muffins. This was the only negative as the pasta dish that we ordered was great.
