One of my favorite restaurants in Oxford! The food is very delicious and flavorful. It is so pretty on the inside and outside. The service is always great. They have big portions as well. Definitely recommend!

Sat in the bar area and the tables were small so not great to eat at if you have anything else in the table BUT the bar staff was stellar. Drinks were good, choriqueso was amazing! Quesa birria tacos were ok but the consume had a ton of grease/oil in it, not what I'm used to seeing (had it many times in many places). Wife had taco salad and said it was exactly what you'd expect out of one so no complaints there. Overall would return, loved the atmosphere and the pros outweighed the cons by far for me.

Not sure what to do with this one. The food was fine enough, sure, but no better than you’d find at any average Mississippi Mexican restaurant. But the grand (and aesthetically confused) interior and claims of authenticity (I ordered from the apparently authentic portion of the menu) felt a little contrary and hollow as I was eating my light-on-flavor meal, which did arrive quickly, even if it was only just fine (the guacamole as an appetizer though was particularly suspect. Why pile the chicharrones atop the dish instead of on the side? And why the pineapple (?) atop?). Maybe the kitchen and the interior design need some work. What I will say is that the front of house was excellent, attentive, and (I assume) should be paid more.
Ultimately, I think this restaurant is probably good, or at least fine, in terms of its food. It is an atmospheric disaster. The service is perfect. So if you want to eat alright food in an environment that could be the setting of a horror movie with excellent service, well, first of all, why? But anyway, you ought to visit El Charro.

Great Mexican food in Oxford. Very thankful they were open Thanksgiving night before egg bowl. Mole sause was very good, margaritas very good, cocktail variety very good. Mississippi is the place for tamales. They sat our party of 12 quickly and served very efficiently. Servers were friendly and attentive and worked very hard to enrich our experience. Recommended.

As a west coaster I’m a little picky with the food I get of the Mexican variety. That being said the El Charro in Oxford MS is the best I’ve had since moving east of the mountains. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I had carnitas that aren’t just pulled pork or corn tortillas that aren’t a raw, torn and broken mess the second I try to peel it from the queso encrusted plate! We sat down and had our food in five minutes, any time I needed something all I had to do was look up and a server helped me immediately. Thank you El Charro of Oxford MS!

We had a great experience! Our server was Maysen. She was amazing! They were extremely busy but she stayed on top our our drinks and making sure we did not need anything! I will be returning!

Excellent Mexican restaurant. In town for business and staying at the Tru by Hilton next door, this restaurant was a convenient quick dinner option. Definitely not disappointed with my choice. Food was outstanding; flavor, portion size and speed of service all great. My server Alfred consistently checked in and was very attentive. 100% give this place a visit!
