This is THE place to go! I cannot say enough positive things about the service, the food and the management/ownership. We were personally greeted by the owner, who then showed interest in our satisfaction with the menu and the prepared food. Seriously - this place is awesome. And, no, I'm not related to anyone who works there!! (grin)
Good food and atmosphere. Staff were great/professional.

Don't hesitate when it comes to quality and value. Choose well because your money and you are worth it.
As long as they continue to operate the same way this will always be the #1 steakhouse in central Mississippi
Abosutely the best! Serrvice, presentation, quality and taste are all over the top! My favotite place and great to see a lot of friends enjoying same great experience.
For starters, I had their 75-year-old recipe hot tamales, and they were really good, a perfect way to kick off the meal. I followed that with the traditional wedge salad, topped with blue cheese, diced onions, tomatoes, smoked bacon, sliced egg, and their delicious house dressing. Everything was fresh and full of flavor.
For my main course, I ordered the grilled redfish, which was seasoned and lightly dusted, paneed in olive oil, and topped with fresh lump crab meat. You can also choose grilled shrimp instead, and they’ll add a rich beurre blanc sauce if you like. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
This place is a real bang for your buck. The portions are generous, and everything was seasoned just right. The atmosphere is classy yet comfortable, making it a great spot for a nice dinner out.
Pro tip: I recommend making a reservation to ensure better seating, especially on weekends.

It was a lovely experience and dinner was divine. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies with our order! But all is well as we came home with the leftovers. One thing puzzled me: Open Table asked if we had a special occasion and we did-my birthday. At the restaurant, we were greeted and asked whose birthday but nothing else was made mention of after that which I found odd. Nor was bread/butter offered upon seating. A dessert offering would be fabulous!
Hands down, the best restaurant in the Jackson area. Been going there for almost 30 years and have not had a single bad experience!
Shapley's never disappoints. The menu is sufficiently varied to match anyone's needs but not overwhelming. It is perfectly prepared and presented. You are seated in an area that is intimate and quiet enough for good conversation. The staff is attentive but not intrusive or hovering. A great evening all the way around.
Very good first impression, everyone was welcoming. Owners came by the table and talked for a while. We will be back next time we are in town.

From the time we walked through the door the service was warm and inviting. The server was prompt and attentive. From the crab claws to the creme brûlée the food was amazing. We even had a nice visit with the owner. Great job.
The food is amazing! Our table enjoyed everything. We started with BBQ shrimp, tamales, tuna tower and fried crawfish tails. Tuna Tower and crawfish tails were the true standouts - would definitely order again. We all ordered steaks and each was cooked perfectly. Tender, fantastic flavor. We finished our meal with a round of espresso martinis that were just the right touch. Highly recommend Shapley's restaurant for a special occasion. Our server seemed a bit timid for this atmosphere. We could barely hear her over the ambient noise of the dining room. The dining room is very loud, especially considering the semi-private layout of the tables.
We had a great meal and experience. Such a warm welcoming from Mark Shapley and the staff. Quick service. Excellent food. Can't wait to go back.
My husband and I went to Shapley's for an early dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was crowded, but not noisy. Our server was attentive but didn't hover. My martini was one of the best I've ever had. We ordered the grilled romaine as an appetizer and both got fillets for our entrees. Since we ordered salads we swapped our salad with the entree for some fries. The grilled romaine was plentiful and delicious, the filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the fries were amazing. The fries were hand cut, not frozen. The wine list gives a wide variety to choose from. Overall a very pleasant evening!!
A Culinary Gem in Jackson From the moment you walk into Shapley's, you're greeted with an ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between upscale elegance and Southern warmth. The service is impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and every staff member makes you feel like a welcomed guest. But the real star here is the food. The steaks are nothing short of perfection—expertly cooked to temperature and we opted for the Sauce au Poivre which was a rich, velvety cream and peppercorn sauce that elevates each bite. It's the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over. And then there's the bread pudding—a showstopper. Made from a cherished family recipe, it's hands-down the most incredible version I've ever tasted and won the heart of my 'bread pudding expert' husband. Warm, comforting, and decadently delicious, it's the kind of dessert that makes you want to come back just for one more bite. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion like we were, or simply treating yourself to a great night out, Shapley's is a must-visit in Jackson. Exceptional food, flawless service, and a cozy yet refined atmosphere make it a standout dining experience.
