“This is the best mom 'n pop diner in southwest Mississippi. Walking into the door is like stepping back to the 1950s when Elvis reigned and Americana food was on the menu.
When you walk in, you are greeted with authentic kindness. Your waitress will seat you and tell you about today's specials. The specials are great--can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but let me tell you...Ohhh my lorrrrrrrd...
The onion rings. You HAVE to order the onion rings for your appetizer. They are the best in the world! They come to your piled like a tower on the plate with a side of homemade house dressing for dipping. Four people can share the rings and still have a couple left over. This is a huge appetizer... And so divine. Worth the drive to the country, just for these.
The fried catfish is excellent. Salads are yummy. The burgers are many and varied and sooooo good. Today my lunch mate ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and I ordered the country fried steak--each comes with a big side of crinkle cut fries. The freshly prepared, hand-battered meat in each or our sandwiches overflowed the buns by twice, each cooked to perfection. After a few onion rings each, though, we could only eat half of our sandwiches because we were soooo full.
Desserts are in a cold case and you get to pick which one delights you. I was too full for dessert today but that strawberry cake sure was tempting.
For the huge tower of onion rings, two ginormous home-cooked sandwiches, sides, and drinks, out bill was about 35 dollars. AND WELL WORTH IT considering we both brought home half our sandwiches and fries, several onion rings each, and I had a go-Coke.
When you are treated so well at a diner where the food causes cravings for more more more, and you can take your dinner date out for less than 40 bucks and eat mighty fine while Nancy Sinatra sings on the juke box about her walkin' boots, then you need to patronize the place religiously.
We love our Pit Stop friends and food and can't wait for our next visit!“
