Service was horrible. Couldn’t tell you our waitresses name because when she finally came over she didn’t bother to introduce herself or even offer water. We had to mention we would like drinks. Every other waitress had to help us. No refills. Didn’t even check if we needed anything with our food. Food is good but not good enough for the service to be the way it is.

Sometimes you have to follow your first mind. The food was horrible. The seating was low and the chairs are old. The grill and vent hoods were dirty. They offer a $9 margarita that has no liquor in it. I can go on and on. I wouldn’t go back even if the food was free.

Cheft was nice friendly. Waiter never returned with salad or water refills till we ask someone else to get him for our ticket. Unfortunately he got a great tip since its included. Over crowded area for hibachi. Not a fan

It was delicious! The rolls I got were very large. I can normally eat 3 rolls easily. These were delicious, and I had leftovers.

Every time we come in person and order to-go we always wait so long. Today was the worst, and completely unacceptable. We were waiting just shy of an HOUR for a kids meal, chicken fried rice & a sushi roll.
If you want to order to-go, you might as well dine in and grab boxes as soon as your food gets brought out because it’d be wayyyyyyy quicker.
Please do better with to-go orders, especially when there’s not many people actually dining in

My son requested we eat here and have a hibachi dinner for his birthday. The talent of our chef was unbelievable. juggling knives and food, playing with fire, it was an incredible delectable show. The food was more than we could eat, cooked to perfection, and the atmosphere was exciting and clean. The lighting was a bit low when the show started. It added to the atmosphere.
I'd never been to a hibachi before so I can't judge it against any others, but I was certainly impressed with the chef's skill.

Akita was our go-to restaurant for hibachi because it was usually guaranteed to be flavorful with great service. We would visit 1-2 times per week. I’m not sure what has happened but our last two visits were absolutely horrible. The rice is always really great however the vegetables-not so much. When he placed them on the grill, I could tell they were pre-cooked and old. When I asked, he gave me a “look” and said, “No, they are fine”. I did not eat them. This particular hibachi chef also did not have the best personality which was actually borderline disrespectful in a few instances when speaking to other customers at our table.
In addition, the scallops and shrimp smelled terrible, discolored and were undercooked. I didn’t eat them either. This happened the first time, in addition to our server disappearing for the entire dinner other than to bring the check. I mentioned it to the manager the first time and then again after the second visit so I’m not sure if there was follow-up or not? Either way, I’m not sure if we will ever return. Many customers have mentioned the added gratuity which I actually do not mind. However , the experience and service should be of the highest standard as well.

Ok. I haven't eaten here in a while, but I ate here today. There's some changes that have occurred over the years. First, the quality has significantly reduced. Sushi rolls that used to have tempura lobster now has imitation crab, and there's so much rice in the rolls that it was off putting. The calamari used to taste so good, you can tell they are now frozen ones that were rubbery and fishy. The atmosphere was very different also. I don't know if the management has changed. But Akitas used to have the best sushi in southaven. Now it's like the sushi rolls you buy at Kroger. I'm sad.😔

Home of the most uncomfortable booth I've ever sat on. I think I would have been better on the floor.
Fresh fish on the roll tasted and smelled like it had been sitting out for 2 days. I took it off because it was so bad. The rolls were falling apart and had way too much rice on the outside, so the filling was minimal at best.
Go to any of the other places around for sushi.

This is a great hibachi restaurant. You get your money's worth with food, drink and service. I loved the birthday dessert.
