Sweet Potato Pie Soul Food Whiskey Cafe

My husband and I were out running errands and stopped in for dinner. Everything was delicious. We’ll go back for sure. 10/10

First I must say that I am disappointed with myself for just barging into this restaurant because of the name. I am one to always check reviews and I failed myself in not doing so. Upon entering, we were impressed at how well the restaurant looked in appearance. The menu was inviting so we ordered. I am pescatarian so I ordered fried fish and it came with two sides. I got lima beans and sweet potato casserole (my favorite). My honey got turkey wings, black eyed peas and greens. I literally told the server that the portions of the sides were skimpy for the price which was almost $60. My fish was good, and my honey said his turkey wings were sub par. The sides were horrible and they had jiffy mix cornbread. I gave it to my dog, at least he had a good meal and needless to say this was our first & last time dining there.

Wow, just wow! This place is a hidden gem. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. But the real star of the show was the food. Nothing too sweet or nor too salty!! Everything was a flavor explosion, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. From the crispy fried chicken to the savory greens and creamy mashed potatoes. This place was all absolutely delicious. If you're a soul food lover, this is a must-try!

My fiancé and I tried this place and everything was wonderful. Flavorful food and fast service. The turkey wings were seasoned so well and all the sides were delicious! A great staple in Southhaven!

It is not it!
I got oxtails over rice, greens, and Mac and cheese.
5/10- Oxtails got some fat on it, but no seasonings.
4.5/10- Greens (and I love greens) they got so much garlic powder on them, you can see it.
2/10- Mac and cheese got the nerve to be sweet.
7/10- Rice and gravy was about the best thing on the plate.
Probably my first and last time.

Amijah and Regina provided great customer service. I ordered fish and sweet potato soufflé and cabbage. It was so good. I recommend to everyone. I’m super picky too. Music was good RnB. Mark cooks very well.

The food was excellant. I had mac and cheese it was very cheesy and good. The chicken and dressing was delicious also. I will be back for the Oxtails.

Food was so so not very good really. Cornbread was hard as a rock, no seasoning on chicken at all. Ordered chicken and rice and no rice just greasy chicken

I didn't feel like cooking, so I decided to try this place. Let's just I should have cooked because it was a waste of time and money. Where do I start...how are turkey wings tough??? The dressing was sweet ?. The mac and cheese was ok but the entire meal was bland. Oh, I also had a slice of sweet potato pie, nah that was not it either...smh.

So today was me and my family 1st time trying the food here on 9/28/24 the place was pretty clean and customer service was great! So my husband had baked chicken, spaghetti, and cabbage everything was pretty good except the cabbage, my husband said that it was dry the flavor was there but it was just dry.. I had spaghetti fried chicken, mac & cheese, and a small cup of rice. Everything was pretty good except the rice. My son also had rice in his plate. The rice was extremely dry with no flavor. I believe the fact that the rice and the cabbage was dry because the food sits under steamers, and they don’t really stir it up while it’s under the steamers the cornbread was good in taste but the bottom of it was hard .also the fact that we came late in the evening around four thirtyish they may be the reason why it also played apart of some of the food being dry.I believe if we came earlier. The food would’ve been better, and the cakes are amazing. Definitely bursting with flavors and definitely moist. We will eat there again. We would just try to come earlier next time.

It's not the worst I've ever had, but it's certainly not the best. I feel like everything needed more seasoning. I'm not a fan of pecans or whatever was in the sweet potato casserole. I enjoyed how crisp the fish, porkchop, and chicken were. However, there was absolutely a lack of seasoning. The oxtails were tender but, again, lacked seasoning. It looked and smelled so good. I was ready to do my food dance. Sadly disappointed.

I was so disappointed! I went here on 9/22/24 for oxtails. I purchased oxtails (no seasoning & small) , Mac and cheese (over cooked and bland) rice (uncooked, hard and crunchy) cabbages (they were good) and sweet potato ( the sweet potato pie started off good but then it be became salty) I will not spend over $30 again for a low vibration meal.

Omg! This was my first visit and their food is SOOO DELICIOUS! I had smothered pork chops , macaroni and sweet potato casserole smh sooo good ! I will be returning definitely! If you go please try the sweet potato casserole I’ve never had sweet potato casserole this good ? and the cashier was very polite ! Thank you
