I cannot say enough good things about the marble cake Chef TJ crafted for me on short notice. Not only was I fitted into an already packed schedule, but the cake itself was a showstopper. The rich chocolate and smooth vanilla cake was perfect for our birthday celebration; with a stunning floral design and with cupcakes that made it as beautiful as it was delicious.
Chef TJ’s talent and professionalism truly shine. I’m beyond grateful for the care, creativity, and flexibility. If you’re looking for a custom cake that wows both the eyes and the taste buds, Chef TJ is your person.

My boyfriend and I have been going here since we were freshmen back in 2022, and we love it! The best pastries around!! We’ve been to Italy and the pastries are comparable. 🥐 Owner and staff are very kind as well.

WOW was what we both said after just smelling the pastries as we walked in. The presentation and flavor were just as fantastic!! Comparable to (and possibly better than) the chocolate croissants we had in Florence. Kind customer service too. Will be coming back to this place!!

This is a cute little local cafe bakery and I’m glad we checked it out. It is conveniently located on the Main Street walk with lots of shops. They offer delicious croissant pastries that look like art, other breakfast items and coffee. We tried a raspberry cream croissant and morning bun which is like a cinnamon roll with croissant bread. Warmed up it was amazing.
The ladies were very friendly and helpful the whole time we were there. The atmosphere itself is homey and has a local feel with crafts from local artists. Will definitely be back!

I have had many treats and goodies from TJ throughout the years, most of which I ate so fast I didn't get a picture, but the who photos I have included are from custom cakes she's done for my job over the years. TJ is an incredibly talented artist and baker and her creations always exceed my expectations for creativity and taste. Her unique creations are truly one of a kind that you cannot find anywhere else in the Starkville area. Her croissants are always perfectly buttery and crisp. The pain au chocolats are the perfect mix of sweet and savory. Her jammie bars and to die for. Her pear hasslebacks are divine and fruity. Her Faux-reos are like quadruple stuffed goodness.... I could go on and on about each individual item I've had because they are THAT memorable. If you've never been there, I HIGHLY encourage you to get out and support local bakeries and business because they are what keep Starkville unique and special.

I've been waiting for 2 months for a quote about a wedding cake I was promised updates about. I've reached out multiple times and no updates. At this point I just have to go with a different baker because I've waited too long. Very disappointed.

AVOID this place at all cost!! For you Starkville locals, it saddens me that you do not have a local bakery that can do custom cakes or even the decency to do right by their customers. Please read through the many text messages that were exchanged between me and head chef/owner (TJ). I promise you do NOT want to spend your hard earned dollars here!!! I can see now as to why the store had to do a SECOND grand re-opening. From the chef/owner, not showing any accountability after serving a marble cake recipe that she has NEVER made before without informing me well beforehand, not abiding by what I requested to be included (& paid for) on said cake (refer to the colors of the Masters hood and lack of MS State memorabilia), and not offering any refund of original payment method but instead a $50 gift card and a remake of the same dry, hard, non-marble cake. It's baffling to see she rather me show my disgust for her product in a lobby full of people then text her on the side. For those of my marble cake fans, when has marble ever meant 90% vanilla and 10 % chocolate?! Lastly, from the bakery to the AirBnB was a 1.2 mile drive but when I say everything fell of the cake cause the owner did NOT have a proper cake box and gave me the cake in a moving box. Mind you I placed this order a month in advance...PLENTY of time to get the proper cake box. But I guess with a cake this bad, a moving box was the ideal box to throw it in the dumpster. What a whirlwind this was from a bakery chef with 10+ years experience. The cake definitely lacked the experience she claims to have.

Please don’t miss out on this wonderful gem in Starkville. We were enchanted upon visiting the quaint dimension of delicious and unique culinary delight. I can’t begin to say enough about how welcomed we were and how the time was made to answer all our questions. We met a gentleman on his way out holding an absolutely exquisite loaf of braided bread. It was a work of art. Please give yourself a treat and drop by. I assure you, you will love it!!

Exploring Starkville a bit and one of the few places open on Friday evening, on an Easter weekend, was Proof Bakery. Checking it out was a must! So glad we did! The baked good are tasty, and the owner is an amazing person! You can buy in store or order online with curbside pickup!

Parking: Street parking and parking behind the bakery.

Love Proof Bakery! The use of unbleached flour at this bakery makes you feel so much better after indulging. TJ is a true artist and her bakery quality is outstanding.

The blueberry Brie tart is to die for!!! It was absolutely delicious. I got a croissant for my friend and it was massive!! I will definitely be back!

Food is expensive and not very good. We spent 50 for 4 pastries and mine was burned black on the bottom. Will not recommend to go back.

I ordered a traditional croissant assuming it’s going to be delicious for the price they claim. The croissant was burnt and very cold. The person who took my order was rude. Really expected them to be nicer like before. It used to be so delicious and welcoming. I was very excited to try the homemade cream cheese but the quantity was so less, for more than a dollar, it barely sufficed one fourth or less of one side of my bagel which I also bought from them. It used to be a wonderful place. I hope they get better again.
