Downunder is a favorite of mine. Their usual dinner menu and drinks are great. However, I watch their social media for their weekend specials. They are phenomenal. This past Valentine’s Day made me write this review. They had a special menu. Choice of salad. The entree was either a Gorgonzola crusted filet with mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes and Brussels or a seafood linguini scampi. 🦞 🦪 🦐 🍝
My husband and I got each entree. I got the scampi. I can’t explain how delicious it was. I suppose it’s just a really good chef in north Mississippi with fresh seafood incorporating seafood broth properly into a sauce. But. We are so inland it is hard to find. And the pasta was perfectly cooked. Of course the steak 🥩 was cooked perfectly medium rare for my husband. We both got the tiramisu for dessert. 🧑🏼🍳😘
All this to say. Many people come to downunder for a late night bar experience. But the food is above and beyond. Especially the specials. And the bartenders can make many a cocktail beyond the standard menu. 🥃
If you have not tried out downunder yet, I highly recommend!!

Two friends and I dropped in for dinner! We each had the 12-ounce ribeye and it was without doubt the best steak I have ever had! The roasted veggies were delish also! Drinks and staff were awesome!

We popped in here to grab a late dinner on a one night stay in Tupelo for a work trip. I was intrigued by the menu since I realized I had never been to a restaurant that specialized in Australian cuisine. Didn’t realize Indian food was part of the equation but it made sense once I thought about it due to the ties to Great Britain! It’s got a dive bar feel and is located in a basement giving the “down under” name a cheeky double entendre. Had some very good butter chicken and enjoyed the spooky vibes.

So heard about this place recently and thought we'd give it a try. Really nice retro vibe. Food selection was pretty different from what we normally eat, but that's what we were looking for! Food was excellent! I'll be back.

Terrible experience. My husband and I had a babysitter and we were excited to try something new. There was only one other table who had already ordered their food. We waited 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order, but she kept talking and joking with the other table (maybe she knew them???) We finally gave up and left when we noticed her and the bartender watching something on the TV above the bar. I hate to just leave, but I'm not paying my babysitter so you can stand there and have a laugh with your friends.

Love the idea of this place, such a cool concept. Seems like a great place for the locals to come hang out. Food was delicious and they have a nice drink menu. Very glad a local woman told us about this place.

If you are deciding which bar in Tupelo to try, this is the one. We were visiting for Elvis festival and did the King Crawl. This bar's drinks were by far the best and the entertainment was great.
