Holy Smoke is my families favorite bbq around Layton! The family portions are huge and the home made bbq sauces are incredible! They have a good child's menu and the inside of the restaurant is a lot of fun. My kids love the butler in the front.

Just Yummmmmmmmmmmmy in your Tummy!UPDATE OCT. 29, 2022!Went by today to get a rack of ribs and the sidewalk was torn up and Holy Smoke was Closed! There was a note posted all over the front window that stated CLOSED MOVING TO NEW LOCATION AT ROOSTERS BAR! I called Roosters and come to find out the original Holy Smoke owners have Sold to Roosters! Also the manager Nathan at Roosters will be running Holy Smoke! So the owners could not be honest and tell us they sold on this message posted on the window! Second with the original owners no longer affiliated I highly doubt Roosters will do it exactly the same! I was loyal to Holy Smoke and this is how they repay the loyal customers with a lie! Stating they are moving to new location and will be closed 2 weeks! Notice how they fail to mention that they Sold and original owners will not be involved! A big 1 for the lie and underhanded way they did this!

This place was pretty good I loved the fact that they had all of their sauces on the side with little cups so you could try it all. I do have to say if you don't like tight spaces don't eat in the restaurant. They barely have any room in the seating you will be bumping elbows with the people behind you constantly.

This BBQ joint is amazing! The first thing you notice is their humor. You walk in and there's 3 trash cans. The left one says use this one if your birthday is in a odd day, the right one says to use it if your birthday is on an even day, and if you don't remember when your birthday is, turn around and use the 3rd trash receptacle behind you! Then once you're in the bathroom there's a funny 5 star rating for the toilet experience which was great. A very humorous way to welcome your guests. Now let's get to the real meat and potatoes. I ate here twice. They do not make their food the way I was hoping. First time, I got the Brisket platter, It was completely shredded as if made for a sandwhich. I prefer slices of Brisket! But, this was still so amazing and so well cooked I gave them a pass. So much so that I went back again and furthermore I'll be back 2-3 more times before my month long Trip is over. The 2nd time I had the 2 meat platter with Brisket and chicken. Omg! The chicken was absolutely amazing and the Brisket great again! They have an awesome choice of sides and a cornbread muffin to die for. They also offer an enormous amount of sauces including like 6 different BBQ sauces ranging from hot, medium, to mild. 2 in each category. Sweet vs Tangy kinda thing. Your tastebuds and full stomach will thank you for stopping here if you're in Layton, UT! Also, it is literally in the same parking lot as the Home 2 Suites hotel so if you stay there you can WALK to this joint... The employees were great, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was palpable.. Thank you for a delicious experience, 10/10, I highly recommend trying. I only had 2 different types of food so far from them, but there's so much more to choose from! Do not miss out on this opportunity.

I know that "Smoke" is in the name, but holy cow, there's too much smoke! If super strong smoke flavor is to your taste, go for it. They have a lot of sauces, but I didn't like any of them, which is unusual for me because I love most sauces of all types. Two of them tasted the same, but had different names. The website says the corn muffins are baked fresh daily, but mine was so dry you'd never know it. The spare ribs were overcooked, they weren't serving the two sides I had selected from the website, and the two I got, coke slaw and potato salad, were overpoweringly strong, as if they were old and the green onion had gotten too pungent. I was hoping for much better, but ultimately I barely ate any of my expensive lunch.

Best BBQ in Davis County - maybe the state. The ribs are, by far, the best on the menu. They have a huge selection of sides. I love the sweet potato fries and potato salad.
Love Holy Smokes... wish they we're open more often! Want them to be my go to more oftrn!!

We love Holy Smokes! So happy to have such a great hometown neighborly restaurant with GREAT food! Meat is so good and we like the beans too. We have the catering many times for fire department events! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

It's a 5 star at lunch and early dinner. Sometimes the meats are a bit dry late in the evening. Really good flavors. I've been back again and again. Very casual seating. Because it's a small place, the tables are quite close. It's always busy, but always good.

If you haven't tried the bbq here, check out their daily specials. My favorite is the pulled chicken, but friends have bragged about the delicious burnt ends and Tri-tip. To add to the menu, they have such a great variety of unique bbq sauces. Chili berry is a nice balance of sweet with a light spicy bbq flavor. It's sooo good!
