Super cute historic building just minutes from Vicksburg National Military Park! The restaurant sits on a hill above the Mississippi River and overlooks an old train depot along the river. The dining room in the back was beautiful, like an old sun porch. The food was great--we went with southern classics like fried bologna and red beans and rice. My only complaint was that the menu advertised gluten-free buns, but when I ordered the fried bologna sandwich with a gluten-free bun, the waitress said they don't offer GF anymore. Bummer since that's why I picked this place, but the fried bologna on its own was fantastic!

We found the restaurant by chance and just visited it on a “lucky” basis. What can I say. We were surprised to come across a restaurant in America that, among other things, also serves good, home-style cooking. We visited the restaurant on two days. Once for the Sunday buffet and the other time at normal times and both were just great.The price/performance ratio is right.

First time coming and it was for lunch today. The ambiance here is just sooooo nice! I was greeted with a lovely smile by the hostess. I wasn’t sure where to go but she directed me quickly to the bartender who already had my order waiting on me. She was really nice as well. All in all the staff was very pleasant and professional and the food was DELICIOUS! Will be coming back!

The building is beautifully restored, rustic and interesting. Sadly, once seated, we were ignored for a good 15 minutes. When we finally got our blue plate special, the food was good but it struck us both that it was prepared and easy to serve quickly. Not sure why they were so disorganized. The hosts was excellent. Somehow the staff packed leadership. Perhaps sometime was out sick? Why did we stay? We were hungry, it was raining and my husband has trouble walking. I hope you have a better overall experience.

Decent spot with generous portions, terrific service, and good food. Ambiance is a bit dated and dark but not bad. The steak bites were good. The fried catfish is great. The homemade biscuits were fantastic. The waitress was a really nice lady. I'd go back.

In Vicksburg for the first time, my wife and I spent the late afternoon walking the downtown area until dinner time. We did a little online research and chose this place based on the location and menu. We found close on-street parking. Inside, we were greeted immediately by our server, Kayla, and seated in a prime spot in the sunny dining area with a river view. As usual when traveling, we shared an entree. My wife is a catfish fan, so we chose the cornmeal-breaded/fried catfish, with rice & gravy and hush puppies. Kayla brought the food sooner than expected and the portions were ample to share. The catfish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The rice and gravy was great and the hush puppies outstanding. Kayla was friendly and efficient, and kept drinks filled...excellent service. We can definitely recommend this place.
