Amazing food, every time we are in Bozeman we make it a point to go. The scallops were amazing, can’t wait to go back.
I was in town for a fly fishing trip a few weeks ago and had an amazing experience at Heist. I was extremely impressed with the entire staff. They exemplified hospitality throughout our entire meal. We walked in, had no reservation and were very lucky that there were two seats open at the kitchens open fire grill seating. Servers, waitresses, chefs, management all made a very intentional effort to make the meal a special one. I'll definitly be coming back next time I am in Bozeman. Highly recommend for a great meal. Food was a 5/5. Had the 48 oz tomahawk which was incredible.
Everything was beautiful. Ambiance, food, service and decor. Obviously they went all out and didn't spare any money on the details. I am sure the bar construction alone was a 250000 expense. Beautiful.
HOWEVER buyer beware. Extremely expensive and hard to justify in my mind the prices they charge. To add insult to injury they have a credit card fee if you don't pay cash. You need to walk around with a bag of cash. Give me a break! I suspect everyone in the restaurant is a tourist from out of town which
Like real estate and living expenses is pushing the local out of town. It's just becoming another Jackson or Vale.
If you're looking for a five-star steakhouse experience, then this is the place. Everything was delicious. We had the tomahawk for two, Rockefeller oysters, salad, and butterscotch dessert.
Sitting at the grill made the experience. It was awesome to see them cook the steaks over the open flames, giving them great flavor. The beef tartare and oysters were a great start to the dinner. We got the steak special - 22oz dry-aged strip from a local Montana farm. Everything we got was amazing!! The staff here is attentive, giving you first-class service.
Shrimp scampi was the worst. Simple dish, please just follow a recipe.. don’t put Luke warm cherry tomatoes on it.
Loud. Food takes forever. Risotto, scallop mushroom dish needs salt. So does the scampi. Garlic, salt, pepper!
Stopped in solo to grab dinner and a drink at the bar. The old fashioned was very good. I ordered the filet medium rare for a steak, which was cooked perfectly to my liking. Also got a side of potatoes and broccolini to accompany it. Sides on the smaller side, but cheaper so that's fine and they tasted really good as well. Got a glass of pinot noir to go with the entree and it was brought out in a very timely fashion. Got a slice of cheesecake to go, which was amazing as well. My bartender was very kind and attentive, always checking up on me, etc. I would love to return to this establishment again in the future.
Beautiful steakhouse. Sat in the lounge area; very comfortable and a fantastic place to relax, drink and chat. We just came for drinks and we weren't let down.
I wish I can say the food was great tonight. The money we spent and the bad food we got. It’s not the same I had before. Most likely I will not going back there again.
Visiting Bozeman for the first time. A local family we met at luggage claim at the airport; highly recommended this restaurant! J.W. Heist was excellent in all categories. When making the reservation I added this was our 35th wedding anniversary and they made sure we were taken care of. Thanks for making our occasion a special memory to all the staff. PS. She loved the diamond earrings to celebrate our special occasion.

10/10 on everything. I am genuinely trying to remember the the last time I've experienced such great service in a fine dinning restaurant. Lindsey our server was amazing, she took her time to walk us through the menu and answer any questions we had. Her guidance absolutely enhanced our experience. Jennifer, the wine curator is top notch and knows her wines and is very friendly. Food was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly to the temp I requested and extremely flavorful, the scallops were generous and the other items we ordered we just awesome. I live an hour away but I am already looking forward to my next meal there.
I travel to all 50 states for work 250 days out of the year so I am no stranger to eating out. This place has nailed their vibe 100%.
A couple of things to note. This is a steak house, and the prices on the menu reflect that, but it is worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and do a lap in the restaurant while you are there and enjoy the art work. They do take walk in's but it is best to make a reservation, went on a weekday and it was packed.
My first time at Heist was last night and we came in with a large group of ladies for a friends birthday and it was, hands down, the best meal and dining experience I’ve had in Bozeman. The service was exceptional. Our server was attentive and the rest of the staff ensured all our needs were met! Water glasses always full, topping off our wine glasses from our bottle, advising us on appropriate sides for the table, etc. A sommelier at our table advised us on fantastic wine. The steak was the best I’ve ever had! Thank you so much for creating such an amazing dining experience all around, Heist staff!
Wonderful conversation from all staff, food was phenomenal, best steak I've ever had in my life and it was worth every cent💕
Gorgeous atmosphere, food is top tier.
I was there a year ago. The prices are higher than what I am used to.
I chose a less expensive item, the pork chop.
I have to say it was the best piece of meat that I have ever eaten. Very tender and the flavor was amazing.
