Can't say enough good about this place. So unassuming from the street and so totally awesome inside. The Food and Service go hand-in-hand at 5 Star. The Atmosphere is 5 Star in the low key market but 4 Star if you are looking for White Linen and waiters.I was there for lunch and a to go one at that. I believe their Dinner may have a different feel to it. They have a Very nice Curated Wine and Beer list I've been there twice,the first time they were closing to get ready for dinner yet the waitress that greeted us went out of her way to give us a menu,take our order and made sure we had everything needed to enjoy our meals as we traveled. The food is Very Fresh with Vegan and Gluten Free (I am neither) options. Uptown Cafe is worth finding if you are in or close to Butte, Montana.

I think uptown has the absolute best lunch in butte. Their food tastes great and feels healthy. Their lemon chicken soup is delicious, their croissants are super buttery, and the avocado toast is incredible. When I get delivery they always show up quickly with my food still warm and the delivery fee is extremely reasonable. Love the Uptown cafe.

Incredible service, the food is outstanding, they have beautiful art on the wall and excellent music playing quietly in the background. I have celiac and they were able to accommodate my allergy. Come hungry because the portions are generous and you want to save room for dessert!

We had lunch here and ordered the Signature Bowl and Caesar salad. I enjoyed my bowl with sashimi ahi tuna, it is fresh with a lot of vegetables and it goes well with the wasabi ginger sauce. It is very similar to a poke bowl. The portion of food is big and satisfying. We’ll definitely like to come back here again for lunch and try more items from their menu! The price during lunch is reasonable.

I go here for several special occasions each year and I always enjoy it. I always get an extra order of Clams Maison and, though I've had and enjoyed everything on the menu, I always order the Beef Wellington because I need it. I don't go here the day of Valentine's because they've botched that day too many times, so beware on national night out dinner days. Dinner items can be pricey, but I have never regretted getting the bill; lunch is more than reasonable. Service is usually prompt and always courteous. Nice clean and relaxing atmosphere. Would get 5 stars, but, while fantastic, I have to consider restaurant chains like Ruth's Chris and top one-offs like Spinasse in Seattle, which are true 5 star establishments, but there isn't anything better in Butte.
2025 Update: Since Covid, this place has changed hands a few times, and while the vibe has been updated nicely, the food, at least the entres, have sadly never recovered. The prices have significantly gone up and the quality has significantly gone down, which is evident in the number of guests around us on a Saturday night, so at least the service was excellent. For nearly $100/ person, my wife and I had the worst Beef Wellington we've ever had, only rivaled by the last time we tried the Uptown Cafe, fool me once... My wife and I wanted to give it one last chance to see if it was just growing pains of new ownership, nope. My wife says their lunch is good, and I hear that from others too, but we've had our last dinner at the Uptown Cafe.

I went here once a few years ago and loved it. Came here last night for an anniversary dinner as was less impressed. I ordered Beef Wellington and while it had good flavor there was barely any prosciutto and almost no mushroom duxelles. Too much Hollandaise. Pastry was flaky though and the meet cooked to perfection. My wife had the garlic Parmesan pasta with chicken and loved it. Service as pretty good and refreshingly honest. Hard to explain on here but we really enjoyed our waitress. We will probably still come again though.

We have searched for over a year for a restaurant in Montana that serves Beef Wellington and were thrilled to find it on The Uptown Cafe's new dinner menu! Chef Angie knocked it out of the park tonight! Our meal was excellent- appetizer to entree - everything was on point. She was so gracious when we personally thanked her afterwards. We can't recommend dining here enough! Our server needed a little more time under his belt, but we went for the food & we weren't disappointed in the least! There were so many more dishes as we looked at what others around us had chosen that looked just as delectable, we can't wait to go back. Thank you, again, Angie, and all of the staff at The Uptown Cafe. We will be coming from Helena again soon and spreading the word! ❤️

I was born in Maine and I never thought I would find some of the most fantastic clam chowder I have ever had in Montana, the turkey and Havarti croissant is to dies for. The best lunch $15 can buy hands down. Everyone who works in this establishment should be proud of the high quality delicious food they make and serve.

Run, don’t walk, to come to the Uptown Cafe for your next meal. It’s SO good. Best lunch I’ve had in a long time — and they serve a spectacular dinner on Friday’s and Saturday’s too.
Service was so nice and fast!! They do dine-in, takeout, and deliveries for lunch. I had their Uptown Bowl and decided to be adventurous and try their tofu even though I’m not a vegetarian. It was SO GOOD. Especially with their creamy teriyaki dressing. The wasabi ginger dressing is also amazing.
Atmosphere is really good too with light music, beautiful windows and a really open space vibe. And all of their food is super affordable especially with how well-made and fresh it all is.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian bowl, soup, salad, sandwich, and lots of other options. They have so many you’ll have a tough time choosing!
Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for dietary restrictions and everything is clearly marked. They clarify vegetarian, keto, and gluten free options and have a wide variety of customization options so you can build your meal to your own dietary needs.

I'll start by saying I went here a lot growing up and every few years as an adult. The food was always stellar. Went out for a date night with my husband last week and we had high expectations. We both ordered pasta dishes. My husband's came without the chicken he requested. It took about 10 minutes to get the waiter to stop and talk to us. When told the pasta was missing the chicken, the waiter had a blank stare and simply said, "well what do you want me to do about it?" in an apathetic/bored tone.
My pasta was flavorless and utterly devoid of any taste except cream. The service was mediocre, and none of the food/service was worth what we paid. Pretty disappointed in our meal and not sure we'd go back. Sad to see a staple establishment of Butte disappoint us.
