This was the worst meal we have had in a long time!! Steaks were tough and had no flavor!! Clam chowder was so spicy you couldn’t taste anything and the broccoli was under cooked and had no flavor!! However service was good!!
Kid-friendliness: Dining room is kid friendly
Parking: Plenty of parking and dining room
So the food wasn't bad overall it was mainly the service. We arrived early before the rush and literally were the only ones there. We got seated right away and got our drinks then the server kept running off. Then we finally got our orders in and needed refills on the drinks and ketchup. We got our drinks after about 10 minutes and never got the ketchup. The server never came back until we had a disgruntled face staring at here and got the check finally. It wasn't busy so there was zero excuse for this.
Fantastic service tonight. Fresh salads and my husband loved his Blackberry Bourbon Elk!
We had a nice dinner at this restaurant the other day. It was our first time trying this place and we had a good experience. My husband had steak and gnocchi and I had salmon with broccoli. The food was very fresh and seasoned nicely. It was actually worth the money. We will be coming back.
New owners, great food & service. Nice open seating arrangement. Hadn't been there since the change of hands, we were pleasantly surprised!
Quite a nice little restaurant and bar, a welcome change of pace from the usual crowd favorites. A bit rustic and old fashioned, the service was great and the food was good. Only 10 minutes from Helena.
I'm giving it 3 stars. I was eating with my family, we had a reservation for mother's day, and got seated somewhere next to the bar. One of the lady's said "Why are you sitting there?" We got seated there by the girl at the front. I thought it was a bit rude but just ignored it. The food was okay, the eggs were green ( I don't know if that's normal or not) the sausage was a bit undercooked, mostly the food was decent. They made one of our drinks with to much vodka and it tasted very gross. The experience definitely wasn't what we expected. It costed 86 bucks for 3 people. I hope you guys can improve your establishment because I miss eating here and having a good time.
This is the second time I’ve been disappointed with “The Tender”. We won’t be back, which is unfortunate because Clancy needs a good restaurant… I also get the sense that the owners really do care and want to make it work. They have a great location, it’s clean, they have a semi-rustic atmosphere and the staff is super nice. I’m not sure what’s going on back of the house, because it’s the food I can’t get behind.Kids wouldn’t eat their macaroni and cheese. And these are the kids that think that Kraft is haute cuisine.Wife’s nachos were simultaneously burnt and soggy. My gnocchi was undercooked, the sauce was grainy and the sirloin atop was full of gristle - although cooked to the right temp.Bottom line? Go to Chubby’s or take the drive into town.
Easter dinner was FANTASTIC!! Our service was amazing. Seeing how much attention the chef pays to each and every dish that goes out of the kitchen makes me want to come back soon!
Been a hot minute since I've been here. Clean, pleasant staff and good food. Lots of house made choices, along with gluten and vegetarian options. Better than a few years ago when I last was there. Sports on TV, pool tables, very warm building. Full service bar with unique cocktails and unique burgers. Nice out-of the way seating for groups/couple.

We were seated nearly instantaneously. Pretty busy this night and the limited staff did what they could with what they had. Saying that, my bison burger special wasn't that special. It did come with both red slivered onions AND caramelized onions UNDER the provolone cheese. My fault for not asking to spare me from them. The salad was nearly forgotten. My wife had the baseball steak which looked prepared to her asking. Her salad came out right on time. Our waitress did have a very pleasant personality and served us well with helpfulness and smiles.Might be a while before our family makes it out here again.
Amazing breakfast! You will not be sorry if you go here. Large portions of deliciousness, my kids didn't complain once!
Great breakfast! Corned beef bennie is great!! Try a butte water. Great tap list. Hostesses are adorable.
We were excited to try the breakfast menu. The chicken fried steak looked amazing. What I was served was an extremely overcooked piece of meat? It was coated in some weird corn meal and seed breading that nearly broke my tooth. I received a 2 fork full serving of hash browns. The scrambled eggs were really good though. Husbands steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked past well done with another comical portion of hash browns. His eggs were also good. Very disappointing when the best part of the meals were the eggs. Server might have been new, but we never got refills on drinks and sat for over 15 mins before having to ask for our bill. Not worth the drive.
Went for a birthday and was thoroughly unimpressed for all they hype I had heard. They gave away our reserved table, the drinks took forever, and the steaks were cooked very poorly. It’s hard to serve me an undercooked steak, but at least have a consistent cook. The outside was charred while the inside was chewy pink - grilled way too hot for way to short. I’d rather grill one at home and do it right. The staff was friendly.
