My husband and I took a trip to Bannack and received a glowing recommendation from the ranger on site to visit this place. From the moment of walking in the building, we felt so welcomed! Matt and Nicki were so accommodating and hospitable. I had an amazing 10oz NY strip and we loved it so much we decided to camp out in the back in our van and go to dinner the following night. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Talk about a hidden gem.We stopped in Bannack State Park, toured the Ghost Town, and had the sweetest park ranger ever not only recommend this spot - but called here and checked to make sure they were open for us before sending us this way!About 30 mins from Dillon and 20 minutes if you're visiting Bannack, we thought we'd just stop in and have a beer. We each had the best steaks of our lives! I had the 28oz Ribeye and my wife had the NY strip, the types of steak rotate fresh with what local meats they get. It was cooked to perfection and just absolutely the best steak we've had. Better than some legendary steakhouses we've been to in NY and Philly. We ended up camping for the night in our RV here, and had dinner again the next night. Worth every penny. ? Parking: Big open parking lot. Has a few campsite electric hookups for $ I think it was ~$30, don't quote me on that

This place is incredible! D and Papa D are culinary geniuses! If you want 5 star food, then this is the place! Chicken fried steak, ribeye and nachos are a must!!! Then make sure you leave room for bread pudding. The best our entire group has ever had!

This is a true MT experience! At The Stage Stop, you're treated like a local and won't go away hungry. The steaks are some of the best in the state and they have the biggest chicken fried steak I've ever enjoyed. Call a few days ahead to get the tomahawk steak; you will be glad you did. Also Papa D's bread pudding is worth the calories!

While driving from Las Vegas to Deer Lodge Montana we were looking for dinner spots along the highway. Horse Prairie Stage Stop had one review that won us over and we decided to pull in for dinner. The service was lovely, the food was delicious, and the local beers were tasty. If you're on your way in or out of town make sure to stop in. Your taste buds will thank you.

It was getting late on our road trip from Las Vegas to Kalispell and we knew we weren't going to get up towards the Butte area before the restaurants there would be closed. Started doing some searches for places to eat and saw some interesting reviews about this place. It was a bit out of our way but we decided to try it out. Well worth the trip. It may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. We had the chicken fried steak, shrimp tacos, and a 16 oz ribeye. You can choose what size steak you want (from 12 to 24 Oz), so it's not a "one size fits all" steakhouse. The steak was a perfect mid-rare and melted in the mouth. One of the customers at the bar suggested the white gravy for the CFS which was a great choice. The 6 shrimp tacos were tasty, but would have preferred slightly larger tortillas to help hold all the ingredients while eating them. Good selection of beer, both bottled and on tap. If you're in the vicinity, take the 12 mile detour off of I-15 to try the Horse Prarie, you won't be disappointed.

I came here from the bike ride after 90km. I was so hungry. I ordered the Stage Burger. Came right away, and everything was perfect. The fries, the burger and the service. After the dinner, I enjoyed staying upstairs in the hotel.

Great people, good food. Cool place...

Rustic atmosphere, good staff, too bad the food didn't make the cut. The steaks were more fat then meat, the twice baked potato dry and no butter offered. For the price Buffalo Lodge is much better.

Stopped here for a drink after one of our hunting party members harvested an elk. Great atmosphere and friendly people.
